Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook was recognised with the "Sustainable Future 2023" award by Car and Driver, in recognition of its outstanding environmental practices. The accolade underpins Hankook's ongoing dedication to sustainability, most recently marked by receiving ISCC PLUS certification for the state-of-the-art production plant in Racálmás, Hungary.
The Car and Driver "Sustainable Future 2023" award emphasises the importance of environmental responsibility in the automotive industry and acknowledges Hankook as a forerunner in this field. The magazine particularly commended Hankook's long-term vision and proactive approach to addressing environmental challenges in tyre manufacturing.
Hankook is delighted to have been recognised with this award and reaffirms its ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental preservation in all aspects of its operations. Alejandro Sánchez Monasterio, HR and Financial Manager at Hankook Spain, who accepted the award on behalf of Hankook, commented: "This recognition, along with the certification obtained for our factory in Hungary, is a significant endorsement for us that we are moving in the right direction. This journey would not be possible without the support of professionals, organisations, and media such as Car and Driver, who value and recognise the importance of sustainability in today's business environment, especially in a sector as sensitive as the automotive industry. We therefore welcome the opportunity to showcase our commitment in this regard, and we are determined to continue taking the lead in initiatives that make a positive contribution to our environment".
ISCC PLUS certifies Hankook's highest sustainability standards
The ISCC PLUS certification endorses and validates Hankook's commitment to environmentally responsible production and management in the Hungarian plant. This milestone is proof of the company's compliance with the highest sustainability standards and its positive contribution to environmental conservation, yet another step towards the target to reach net zero in production and to use 100% sustainable materials in its products by 2020.
