KRT Heads To Central Europe

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

The eighth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship will take place at the Autodrom Most circuit in the Czech Republic between 28-30 July, with KRT riders Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes keen to put in strong performances before the start of a long summer break in race action.

Jonathan and Alex have raced at the unique 4.212km long Most circuit twice before on their Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RRs. After a seriously hot weekend of work in  Italy just over a week ago the #worldsbk field is heading to a more northerly location.

Rea has scored four podium finishes from his six individual race starts at Most, making it the only current #worldsbk venue he has not taken at least one race win at. Jonathan is the record holder for career #worldsbk race victories, with 118 to his credit. A full 103 of those have been taken on Kawasaki machinery, whilst competing for the official KRT squad.

Lowes has found little good fortune at Autodrom Most in the recent past, including suffering an illness last year that forced him to withdraw from the final race of the weekend. This season he heads to Most fighting fit and ready to compete for podium places.

During 2023 Rea has taken eight podiums and is fourth overall in the championship, just seven points behind the third placed rider. Lowes had recorded one podium finish this season and sits eighth in the championship standings.

The Autodrom Most is a very ‘busy’ circuit, which crams 21 corners into its 4.212km length. A simply unique venue, with the upper and lower sections of the asphalt running across a curved hillside, Most features every kind of corner imaginable. It can, however, be fairly characterised by its many strong changes of direction at both high and low speed.

The track action takes place below two raised grandstands, with a historic castle bursting through the heavily wooded hills at one end of the circuit and the industrial areas of Most itself located in the valley floor, behind the paddock area.
Autodrom Most is located in the extreme north west of the Czech Republic, very close to the border with Germany.

After the eighth round there will be a long summer break, with the next round taking place at Magny Cours in France between 8-10 September.

Jonathan Rea, stated: “Most is a relatively new track to the calendar and we have been there twice now, so we don’t have a massive amount of data compared to some other circuits. It’s a tough track to master as it has a little bit of everything. There are stop-start sections, flowing sections and lots of changes of direction. It is really critical to have the bike well set-up there. That will be our prime focus on Friday morning, working towards the longer races. Hopefully we will get some consistent weather and find a good feeling. It is a track that I have struggled at in the past; struggled with the nature of the place a little bit. The last few races have been positive for us, battling for podiums through this middle part of the year and always #racing inside the top five. That will be the key, to keep that trend going by fighting for podiums. It will be a nice round to try and get a few good results at before the summer break. It is always better to go into the break with a positive feeling.”

Alex Lowes, stated: “I am really looking forward to this one, which is the last round until September. We had a hot weekend at Imola last time out but I felt that I rode really well. Considering the circumstances - losing the best lap in qualifying and then crashing in the final race, which was held in pretty extreme conditions - I felt I was riding the bike well. I was quite confident so I will take that confidence into Most. Last year I was quite ill during race weekend and didn’t get to finish it. I am also looking forward to getting back to Most as I quite like it. There are lots of changes of direction and some pretty fast corners as well. It’s not the easiest track but we will work hard on Friday to get a good set-up. Our speed has been quite good all year, it is just our pace on used tyres that we need to work on. I am feeling good and looking forward to getting back with the team and trying to challenge for the podiums before we go into the summer break.”

Tito Rabat (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) once more takes to the track for his Italian-based team, after being brought into #worldsbk action again over the previous three rounds. He has raced at Most before, during the 2021 #worldsbk season.

Isaac Vinales (TPR by Vinales #racing Kawasaki) scored his first points of the season recently and he has also previously raced at Most in both #worldsbk and WorldSSP categories.

For 21-year-old Oliver König (Orelac #racing Movisio Kawasaki) this is a bona-fide home round in the Czech Republic. It would be the perfect venue to record his first points scores of the 2023 season.
