Víctor Manuel Sánchez has been appointed as general counsel and Director of Legal Affairs and Governance of the #seat Group companies in Spain, a responsibility he will carry out from #seat S.A. as the main company of the Volkswagen Group in the country. Sánchez will report to the CEO of #seat S.A., Wayne Griffiths and succeeds Thomas Meiers and Marco Cortinovis in the position.

The new general counsel has joined #seat S.A. from the international law firm Cuatrecasas, where until now he was a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration area, representing national and international clients in multi-jurisdictional proceedings. During his tenure at Cuatrecasas, Sánchez has advised and represented #seat S.A. and the Volkswagen Group in a variety of matters, including the design and implementation of the defence strategy in legal proceedings, and the contractual arrangements for the Future: Fast Forward project, the 10-billion-euro investment plan to electrify Spain.

“The incorporation of Víctor Manuel Sánchez at #seat S.A is good news,” said Wayne Griffiths. “Víctor Manuel is a highly accomplished lawyer, he has an in-depth knowledge of the #automotive landscape, as well as of #seat S.A. and the Volkswagen Group. He will take on functions that are highly relevant and will report directly to me in order that we work closely together in the transformation phase we are going through.”

A specialist in large-scale litigation and class actions, Sánchez brings over two decades of professional and academic experience to his role. After studying Law (2001) and Business Administration (2003) at Barcelona’s Universitat Pompeu Fabra, he earned a Master of Laws postgraduate degree from the University of Manchester jointly with Hamburg Universität in 2004.

Sánchez has developed his professional career in Cuatrecasas, which he joined in 2006, serving as an associate at the firm before his promotion to partner in 2018. In addition, he worked as associate lecturer in the Civil Law Department at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and, between 2012 and 2013, he worked as a foreign lawyer at the Pinheiro Neto Advogados firm in San Paulo (Brasil).
