Pichon has a surprising race at SanRemo!

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

This weekend included the opening round of the #enduro World Championship and the Spanish Trial Championship.

EnduroGP Championship:

The FIM EnduroGP World Championship started this past weekend at #Sanremo in Italy.

On the program for this first round, was a varied #enduro type course, twisting paths and 8 hours of #racing each day. The ACERBIS Cross Test took place on the sandy beach of Arma di Taggia, the POLISPORT Extreme Test and the JUST1 #enduro Test, were located in the surrounding mountains, on hard and rocky terrain.

Zach Pichon: "Saturday was an incredible day for me. I felt great in the specials and I felt good on the bike. I won the E1 category ahead of Josep Garcia which was hard to believe! I gave a lot on this first day to go for the victory. On Sunday my rhythm was not good from the first lap. A rock got stuck in my chain on the first lap, I lost almost 14 seconds, I then fought and moved into 2nd place until the last stage where I crashed probably wanting to do too well. I'm still happy because I showed from the first event that I was on the pace and that I could win."

Jeremy Sydow: "On Saturday I had 2 small crashes which made me lose time but I still rode with a good feeling, especially in the #enduro Test. On Sunday, I made progress in the Cross Test and the Extreme and I rode without making any mistakes. The battle for the victory was close until the last stage, but I managed to keep a cool head and won the general classification for which I am very satisfied."

Wil Ruprecht : "This was a weekend of testing for me, coming off the back of an injury with limited bike time, it worked against me all weekend and I was never really able to set my eye into the race conditions. That being said I am happy with how the team operates and the work they do from their sidelines. Given my history with riding bikes with the fuel tank at the back, this weekend's race showed me how I need to adjust my suspension to optimize my performance on the #Sherco. With the coming French championship race and a few weeks of testing I hope to make adjustments and have more favorable results" Hamish Macdonald : "I am really happy with my weekend at the first round of the #enduro GP, it was a tough race and I battled for fourth position with Zach for the whole race unfortunately I lost out in the last test I was too fatigued to focus and push 100%, physically I felt like I could improve and also mentally challenging with 4 long laps and 12 tests, my biggest weakness was in the cross test, where I lost a lot of time every lap to my competitors in the deep sand, I don't know why but I'm really struggling to find a good flow and to be fast in sand. I guess it's just my lack of experience and only growing up riding #enduro in New Zealand. But overall, I'm super happy with how I performed under the circumstances and with the struggles I overcame last year, I can only get better from here and my motivation is high to improve and keep gaining confidence and connection with myself and my bike!"

Antoine Magain : "It was a mixed Saturday and for some reason I did not feel great on the bike, especially in the #enduro test where I didn't feel at all confident and I was wasting a lot of time hoping for a better result. The positive is that despite all the struggles that I had the podium was not that far away. Sunday was better even if the start of the day was not exceptional. I managed to feel more confident and come back at the end of the day to get 3rd place in the E3 category and P10 scratch! Super happy to start the World Cup with a podium on Sunday."

Spanish Trial Championship: The 2023 #Sherco Academy riders competed in the second round of the SPEA RFME 2023 Spanish Trial Championship which took place in Gironella, Barcelona. Alex Canales, Arnau Farré and Jeroni Fajardo represented the #Sherco colors. Casales finished 6th in TR1, his best ranking since moving up the category in 2022, Farré 7th, Fajardo 9th. Jeroni Fajardo: "I'm very happy with my first race with the 2023 #Sherco, the handling is very good. I felt totally confident, which allowed me to do an almost perfect run both in the first and in the second lap, having only 2 penalties in section 1 and finishing all the others at 0. The lightness of the bike also helped me a lot to be very fast in the sections, which is very important with the new regulations. Now I'm going to work hard at improving myself so that I can fight better in the next races!"

Arnau Farre : "This year I am not going to compete in the entire Spanish championship, but since the world championship starts very soon, I decided to participate in this race to get into the rhythm of the #competition and prepare for the world championship. The truth is that I am very happy with how the race went, the sections were demanding, with big rocks and high ramps, which I am not used to. I had a good feeling at the controls of my new #Sherco, and physically I felt good. I finished the race in seventh position in the highest category TR1. It was a very positive weekend for me, and I am prepared for the next 3DTS race on April 7-8-9." The next round of the 2023 CET will take place in Benahavís, Málaga on May 14.
