George Russell finished the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in fifth place, one week after securing his maiden F1 victory. His team-mate Lewis Hamilton retired on lap 55 due to a loss in hydraulic pressure and a subsequent failure with loss of gearshift. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team end the season in third place in the Constructors' Championship, 39 points behind runners-up Ferrari. The crew and drivers stayed on in Abu Dhabi after the race weekend for the last test day of the year, scheduled to take place on Tuesday. While Lewis and George shared a car and completed an extensive tyre testing programme for 2023, Formula 2 driver and Mercedes-AMG F1 Junior Frederik Vesti got the chance to make his F1 debut and acquaint himself with the W13 on the other side of the garage.
