Sauber Motorsport achieves Three-Star level in FIA Environmental Accreditation Framework

Hinwil, 22 September 2022 – #saubermotorsport saw its efforts towards environment and sustainability recognized at the highest level, as the company reached the top Three-Star level within the FIA Environmental Accreditation Framework. The achievement, which adds to the certification to the ISO 14001 standard for all Formula One activities, obtained in January 2022, is testament to the team’s strong commitment to employing best practice in environmental management, in line with its own sustainability goals.
The important achievement was conferred to #saubermotorsport following an audit conducted by the FIA Environmental Accreditation Auditor last August, and fits within the wider set of initiatives put into action by the company over the years to reduce its environmental impact, being one of the first companies in Formula One to be fully carbon neutral - as early as 2011.
Past and present activities have put the team at the forefront of this effort: #saubermotorsport have been powering its #hinwil headquarters with renewable energy generated on site; it has fully offset the team’s CO2 emissions, including employees’ flights, through reforestation and forest protection projects; and it has renewed the company’s vehicle fleet to reduce emissions. As part of the commitment to a greener future, the team has also targeted a reduction of its total carbon footprint by December 2023.
Sauber Motorsport’s sustainability strategy is in line with the goals set by Formula One to become a net zero carbon sporting spectacle by 2030, and to promote positive developments in the communities hosting a Grand Prix event all over the world.
The FIA Accreditation Programme is aimed at helping Motorsport and Mobility stakeholders worldwide to measure and enhance their environmental performance. By introducing clear and consistent environmental management, it provides stakeholders with a three-level framework against which to accredit their activities.
