  • ID.4 lands a spot on Autotrader’s best #ev list for the second year in a row

Herndon, VA — #volkswagen of America, Inc. is excited to announce that the ID.4 compact SUV was named to Autotrader’s list of 10 Best Electric Cars for 2022. The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV and the brand’s first global #ev, bringing the decades-long reputation for combining performance, packaging and value in the form of a next-generation electric vehicle.

“We know a host of #volkswagen electric cars are coming...[but] the 2022 #volkswagen ID.4 has impressed our team with its smooth integration of function with form. It retains its essential ‘VW-ness’ even without a combustion engine,” said the editors at Autotrader. Associate Editor #robnestora says, “Volkswagen’s ID.4 is like an Apple device on wheels. The interior is modern and functional, and the exterior is attractive without being flashy. Like other VWs, the ID.4 is fun to drive.”

“Volkswagen has engineered and priced the ID.4 in a way that will win the hearts and minds of SUV owners who are ready to go electric and want to love #volkswagen once more,” said #andrewsavvas, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, #volkswagen of America. “We are honored to be recognized by Autotrader among other organizations that have also committed to going electric.”

The Autotrader editorial team considered factors like the interior, exterior, powertrains, ride and handling, features, comfort, and prices. Research includes testing of parking, lane-changing, backing up, testing cargo space and loading, as well as acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, and materials quality. Editors contribute ratings on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the best and to meet final consideration, vehicles had to receive a minimum of 4.0 out of 5.0 points. For the first time, only pure EVs were allowed on the list this year, and all vehicles on the list had to be generally available to the public within six months of publishing.

The ID.4 is built on the brand’s MEB electric vehicle architecture – the modular electric drive matrix – and competes in the compact SUV segment, the world’s largest market segment. It is equipped with an 82kWh (gross) battery pack and a rear-mounted AC permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel-drive models add an asynchronous electric motor on the front axle, giving a combined maximum output of 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 #volkswagen ID.4 Pro has an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles, while the 2022 #volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro has an EPA-estimated range of 251 miles. The 2022 ID.4 comes with three years of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America DC fast chargers at no additional cost, helping to inspire range confidence.

The #volkswagen ID.4 #ev offer structure is simple—four trims and one package. The entry-level Pro model is well equipped, with features typically found on higher trims baked in for added value. Pricing starts at $41,230 MSRP for the rear-wheel-drive Pro model, and $44,910 for the AWD Pro, before a potential Federal tax credit of up to $7,500. Pro S models are priced from $45,730 for rear-wheel drive and $49,410 for all-wheel drive, adding standout styling elements, along with creature comfort and convenience features. A Gradient Package is available for $1,500 and includes larger wheels and further design differentiators. Destination for all ID.4 models is $1,195.
