Football and music headline the May agenda at CASA SEAT

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

  • The stages of the football career and female talent in football will be discussed in two talks by professionals of this #sport such as #sergidarder and Carlota Planas
  • The space will host the Barcelona premiere of the new work by the flautist Elisabet Franch and the pianist Albert Guinovart
  • The Literary Cafés and meetings with specialists on the economy and mobility round off the calendar of events in the auditorium

As part of its “Football. Art. Icons.” exhibition, CASA #seat has prepared a programme with football as the central theme for the month of May. The auditorium will host renowned footballers and sports journalists who will talk about topics such as female talent and professional careers in this sector.

Taking place on 2 May, the first session will be a talk focusing on the evolution of football careers. Guests will include current RCD Espanyol midfielder #sergidarder, former footballer #lluiscarreras and Javier Díaz Pons, also known as Mágico Díaz, another former footballer and currently an agent. The conversation will be moderated by GOL journalist Alba Oliveros.

The session on 13 May will be dedicated to female talent in football. It will feature sports and business coach Amancay Moreels; and #carlotaplanas, a former player and co-founder of UNIK Sporty, one of the pioneers in the professionalisation of women’s football with the creation of marketing and representation agencies.

The session will focus on the goal of continuing to empower the new generations of girls who want to pursue a career in this #sport. The challenges and hurdles to becoming a professional football player will be analysed, such as how to prepare for a professional life post-football and how to develop other skills and interests outside the #sport.

The “Football. Art. Icons” exhibition will continue until 28 May, giving visitors the chance to admire the illustrations by #guillembosch while at the same time enjoying the different interactive stations spread throughout the space. A virtual goal, a miniature pitch, two personalised foosball tables and a game to create a “Best 11” line-up complete the football experience.

Musical Saturdays at CASA SEAT

Throughout May there will be a variety of concerts every Saturday of the month, at midday. It will be an opportunity to enjoy a musical experience in the auditorium, with styles such as jazz, classical or flamenco.

The auditorium will be filled with jazz on the first two Saturdays of the month, first with a concert by the #luciafumero Trio scheduled for the 7th at 12 noon, in which she will present a selection of songs from her latest album, Universo normal, a project that combines jazz and folk music. The Poyo Moya Trio will be performing on the 14th, offering a live blues concert and revisiting boogie-woogie and swing tunes from different decades, artists and regions, in collaboration with the singer Pat O’Brien.

Later on in the evening of the 14th, Elisabet Franch and Albert Guinovart will be giving a classical music concert. This is the Barcelona premiere of the Franch plays Franck album project, which will be released on 13 May with the Sony Classical label. In this session, in addition to the live musical performance, the flautist will share insights into their new album.

Continuing in the musical sphere, CASA #seat will be one of the venues of the Ciutat Flamenco festival. On the 20th it will host the opening concert with live music by Naike Ponce, who will perform a selection from “Vivir”, for which she was nominated for Best Flamenco Album at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2020. In addition, the auditorium will be the backdrop for the fourth edition of the Congreso Internacional de Flamencología y Pedagogía Flamenca (International Congress of Flamencology and Flamenco Pedagogy). It will consist of four round tables that will deal with topics related to cante jondo, flamenco and its pedagogy, on 27 and 28 May. This programme is in collaboration with the Madrid’s Complutense #universityandtheescuelasuperiordemusicadecatalunya.

To round off the month’s musical agenda, on 21 May, singer and multi-instrumentalist Alfonso Vilallonga will give a unique concert titled Un chansonnier au cocktail bar du Mexique. Accompanied by #magalidatzira, double bass player and vocalist, and Max Dedo, trombonist and singer, they will be combing some of their own unreleased songs with other classical French songs and Mexican ranchera.

Events for book lovers

As regards literature this month, on 4 May, Pere Ortín and Nzé Esono Ebale will present a preview of their new graphic novel Diez mil elefantes (Ten thousand elephants) (Penguin Books, 2022), which goes on sale on 5 May. This will be a new edition of the Literary Cafés hosted by literary critic and writer Jorge Carrión. In this conversation, the authors will talk about this story that portrays Spain’s colonial past in Equatorial Guinea.

Continuing in the field of literature, a new TEDxBarcelona session is taking place on Wednesday 18 May titled “Language and gender”. Carme Junyent, professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Barcelona, will open a debate on strategies to achieve an equal representation of the female and male genders in language.

Economy and mobility, two sessions for specialists

The auditorium will once again host sessions dedicated to sectors such as mobility and transport, the economy and sustainability.

On the 10th, there will be a round table on circular economy, in which representatives from different sectors will address the emergence of this economic system to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Participants will include Marta Angerri, CSR Director of Grup Ametller Origen; Àngel Bou, founder of simplr.io, the first large-scale on-demand consumption platform; Marcela Ospina, Director of the Master’s Degree in Communication Management, EADA Business School; and Oriol Boada, Head of Environmental Product Affairs in R&D at #seat S.A. This session will be chaired by journalist Elisenda Camps.
