  • Maximum comfort on the inside, understated elegance on the outside
  • Maximum safety with the full range of features
  • Three high-deckers instead of the two that were planned previously, and a special event to celebrate delivery

Stuttgart/Groningen – The Dutch #bus company Autobusbedrijf Doornbos in Groningen specialises in #bus and coach rental. Its well-maintained fleet is made up of buses and coaches ranging from Sprinter minibuses to double-decker coaches. Now, three new #mercedesbenztourismol vehicles are arriving on the scene – 14 metre-long three-axle high-decker coaches with select fittings.

Maximum comfort on the inside, understated elegance on the outside

For Doornbos, quality is everything: “We want to give our guests a luxurious and comfortable travel experience,” says Adrie Oostenbrug, Director of Doornbos. And this, the longest Mercedes-Benz Tourismo, fits the bill perfectly. Instead of the standard 59-seat layout, Doornbos has chosen a design with only 52 seats, creating generous, passenger-friendly seat spacing.

What's more, Doornbos has chosen the most comfortable seating available from Mercedes-Benz, with Luxline upholstery and adjustable headrests. Adrie Oostenbrug highlights a top priority for Doornbos: “Our passengers can always count on seating that is spacious, comfortable and equipped with all the options that make a journey more pleasant.”

The luxurious equipment beautifully complements an elegant appearance: like all buses and coaches from Doornbos, the three Tourismo L vehicles were painted in Champagne Metallic. The look is completed with aluminium wheels and side destination signs with a copper greyhound, the company emblem. Doornbus intentionally does not use large decals with the company name: “We want the coaches we drive to be stylish and understated,” explains Oostenbrug. Just like the coach equipment, this matches the customers of Doornbos. They are largely made up of business travellers at management and board level.

Maximum safety with the full range of features

In addition to comfort, safety is also of the utmost importance to Doornbos. Oostenbrug says: “These coaches are equipped with all available safety features, including three-point seat belts on all seats, Alkolock ignition lock for the driver, Sideguard Assist turning assistant and adaptive cruise control.” The engine that has been chosen is a powerful 335 kW (456) variant that offers safety and environmental protection at the same time.

Three high-deckers instead of the two that were planned previously, and a special event to celebrate delivery

Doorbos had originally planned to order just two high-decker coaches. However, because everything worked out so well, Doornbos ordered one more Tourismo L as well. For Doornbos, delivery of the coaches was the perfect excuse for a celebration! Owner Mauritz Dorenbos says: “We took this as an opportunity to go on a COVID-safe company outing. We drove to EvoBus Nederland in Nijkerk with 23 drivers.” Here, the Doornbos team enjoyed some refreshments al fresco. On the journey there, the drivers took part in a quiz, and the three winners got to drive the new coaches back to Groningen, where the team was greeted by yet another buffet!
