Season opener in #diriyah: Last weekend, the #diriyah Circuit in Saudi Arabia hosted the opening event of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the fourth year in a row. The first double-header of the campaign got off to a scintillating start for the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, with #stoffelvandoorne mastering the new qualifying format to book a sixth pole position of his Formula E career and with his team-mate #nyckdevries lining up behind in third place. In Friday's first round, the Mercedes-EQ duo delivered a one-two finish. It was Nyck's third success in Formula E and his second in #diriyah. For the team, it was victory number five in the all-electric #racing series and also the second win in an opener in Saudi Arabia. However, the outcome of the second race on Saturday made it a weekend of mixed emotions. In qualifying, Nyck initially picked up where he had left off on Friday evening, securing his second Formula E pole position in a tense shootout by a margin of just five thousandths of a second. In the race itself, he was unable to repeat the previous day's result and had to settle for tenth place after a contact with an opponent. Stoffel meanwhile fought his way up from twelfth on the grid to cross the line in seventh. The third round of the season will be contested in Mexico City in a fortnight's time on 12 February 2022.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship begins with a podium for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport: The Rolex 24 At #daytona traditionally opens the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The 60th running of this prestigious event took place at the famous 5.73km #daytona International Speedway last weekend, with the Mercedes-AMG Customer #racing teams fielding a record contingent of six Mercedes-AMG GT3s.

In unusually cold temperatures for the US state of Florida, the driver quartet of Scott Andrews, James Davison (both AUS), Stevan McAleer (GBR) and Mike Skeen (USA) steered the number 32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 entered by Gilbert/Korthoff Motorsports to third place in the GTD class. The progress of the number 57 Winward #racing car was impeded by a number of unlucky penalties and a lengthy repair stop, but it still finished the event sixth in this class.

Patrick Assenheimer, Dirk Müller (both GER) and #austincindric (USA) sharing the cockpit of the number 15 Proton USA Mercedes-AMG GT3 meanwhile finished fifth in the GTD PRO classification. The cars fielded by Alegra Motorsports, SunEnergy1 #racing (both GTD) and WeatherTech #racing (GTD PRO) unfortunately had to end their challenge early after occupying promising positions in the 24-hour race.

Capstone Motorsports wins GS Bronze classification in Michelin Pilot Challenge curtain-raiser: The season opener of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge took place on Friday as part of the Rolex 24 At #daytona support programme. In the four-hour race, likewise contested at #daytona International Speedway, Gary Ferrera and Kris Wilson (both USA) in the number 11 Capstone Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 staged an impressive recovery to secure eleventh place overall, a result that was enough for victory in the newly introduced GS Bronze class. Brent Mosing and Tim Probert (both USA) driving the number 65 car of Murillo #racing took second place in this classification, thereby delivering a one-two for Mercedes-AMG at the first time of asking. Having started the race from 31st and 19th respectively, the #72 and #56 Mercedes-AMG GT4s of Murillo #racing made it a strong all-round result for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport with two Top Ten finishes.

Dragon #racing celebrates a brace of one-two class wins in UAE Procar Championship: On the third weekend of the UAE Procar Championship held at the #dubai Autodrome, Dragon #racing enjoyed the best possible outcome to rounds five and six of the season. On Saturday, #omairalmeheri (UAE) in the #79 Mercedes-AMG GT4 finished third overall and winner in his class in both 25-minute races. #amirfeyzulin (RUS) driving the #81 sister car crossed the finish line twice in fourth place overall, thereby securing Dragon #racing a brace of one-two finishes in the GTB class.
