  • Global day of generosity, #GivingTuesday encourages people to give and create positive change in the lives of others
  • Volkswagen supports U.S. Soccer’s newly launched One Nation (DEIB) Fund with $90,000 contribution

Herndon, VA — #GivingTuesday is a global event held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving that reminds people to give back by donating to causes they care about. Inspired by the global #GivingTuesday movement, #volkswagen of America joined U.S. Soccer for the second year as presenting partner of U.S. Soccer’s #GivingTuesday campaign to launch the U.S. Soccer One Nation (DEIB) Fund.

As part of U.S. Soccer’s #GivingTuesday campaign, #volkswagen is directing $90,000 of its U.S. Soccer sponsorship to the One Nation Fund, a philanthropic program enabling supporters to contribute to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives created under the One Nation banner. U.S. Soccer introduced the One Nation platform in 2020, acknowledging the influence of soccer to unify the nation and the importance of growing a community that is supportive and welcoming to all. The initiative has grown into one of U.S. Soccer’s social responsibility programs to establish and grow soccer programs, community activities, and national conversations advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). The new One Nation (DEIB) Fund will provide an opportunity for supporters to actively help build a more inclusive soccer community, and provide U.S. Soccer with critical resources to develop and grow important DEIB activities.

This is the second consecutive year #volkswagen has helped U.S. Soccer launch a new program in support of diverse soccer communities. Last year, #volkswagen committed a part of its U.S. Soccer investment to the Jill Ellis Scholarship Fund to empower and advance more female coaches through coaching education scholarships, and the SheChampions Coaching Mentorship Program, Presented by #volkswagen. The program provides financial support and guidance to have a direct impact in the lives of female coaches, and create a more inclusive coaching industry.

“Volkswagen is very proud to support U.S. Soccer’s efforts to use its platform for a change for good through the One Nation (DEIB) Fund,” said Kimberley Gardiner, SVP Marketing, #volkswagen of America, Inc.  “#GivingTuesday gives us the chance to rally around causes during the busiest shopping season of the year.”
