Herndon, VA — #volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the all-new ID.4 electric SUV has won the Save The Planet Award in the 2021 CarBuzz Awards. The CarBuzz Save The Planet Award goes to the hybrid or electric vehicle that CarBuzz determines to best bundle fuel-saving (or eliminating) technology with qualities such as style, performance, and capability.

"With the 2021 ID.4, #volkswagen proves an electric vehicle can be fun and good for the planet at the same time," says Jared Rosenholtz, CarBuzz Editor-at-Large. "The rear-drive ID.4 offers respectable power for a compact crossover, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model dials up the excitement with nearly 300 horsepower. We loved the ID.4's nimble driving manners and premium interior. This car shows that VW is ready for the electrified era."

“We are thrilled to win the Save The Planet Award from CarBuzz,” said Scott Keogh, CEO, #volkswagen Group of America. “Volkswagen is committed to bringing e-mobility to the masses. The ID.4 is packaged and priced to win the hearts of American buyers, so they don’t have to choose between the functionality they need and zero-tailpipe emission driving.”

Built on the brand’s MEB electric vehicle architecture—the modular electric drive matrix—the ID.4 competes in the compact SUV segment, the world’s largest market segment. The 2021 ID.4 RWD offers an 82kWh (gross) battery and a rear-mounted AC permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque; the ID.4 AWD adds an asynchronous electric motor on the front axle, bringing the maximum system output to 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. ID.4 Pro rear-wheel-drive models have an EPA-estimated 260 miles of range, while ID.4 AWD Pro models have an EPA-estimated 249 miles of range.

The 2021 ID.4 offer structure is simple—four trims and one package. The entry-level Pro model is well equipped, with features typically found on higher trims baked in for added value. Pricing starts at $39,995 MSRP for RWD models and $43,675 MSRP for AWD models, before a potential Federal tax credit of up to $7,500.
