Alti e bassi per l'Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team in Gara 2 a San Juan: Odendaal a terra, Sebestyen ottimo quinto

Domenica dal sapore particolare per l'Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team, che in virtù dei risultati di Gara 2 può sia recriminare che festeggiare. La corsa di #stevenodendaal infatti è terminata con un ritiro, in seguito a due cadute, mentre #petersebestyen ha colto una bellissima quinta posizione. 

Il day 3 di #sanjuan si è aperto con il warm up, dalla consueta durata di 15 minuti. Qui sia Odendaal che Sebestyen hanno completato nove giri, mettendo a punto le ultime cose in vista di Gara 2, ottenendo rispettivamente la 6° e la 7° posizione al termine della sessione. Alle 13.30 ecco scattare Gara 2. 

Partito bene dalla seconda casella Odendaal è entrato nella prima curva in terza piazza, restando però incolpevolmente coinvolto nella caduta di Gonzalez. Dopo essere ripartito il pilota sudafricano ha cercato di rimontare, per conquistare più punti possibili, ma la sua corsa è definitivamente terminata nel corso del tredicesimo giro, a causa di una seconda scivolata alla curva 16. Nonostante lo zero odierno Steven mantiene la seconda posizione in campionato con 313 punti, ma si interrompe matematicamente la rincorsa al titolo mondiale, a causa dei 68 punti di ritardo nei confronti del neo campione Aegerter. 

Giornata da ricordare invece per #petersebestyen, alla sua prima top five di carriera in #worldssp. Partito ottimamente e subito in terza posizione Peter ha lottato per il podio fino a circa metà gara, quando un lieve calo delle prestazioni lo ha costretto a difendersi dal ritorno degli avversari. Nonostante ciò il pilota ungherese è riuscito a conquistare una splendida quinta piazza, con la quale migliora il suo precedente miglior risultato di stagione (7°) e conferma la sua esponenziale crescita. 
In virtù dei risultati del weekend l'Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team mantiene la terza piazza nella classifica riservata ai team, con 377 punti. Terminato il round argentino il team di Ravenna tonerà in pista il 19-20-21 novembre sull'inedito tracciato di Mandalika (Indonesia), per l'ultimo appuntamento della stagione 2021.

Steven Odendaal: "Dopo una buona partenza sono arrivato alla prima curva, e lì sono stato toccato nella ruota posteriore finendo a terra. Cadere quando si è nelle prime posizioni è sempre pericoloso, ma per fortuna tutto è andato bene. Una volta ripartito ho capito di essere caduto insieme a Gonzalez, e mentre stavo spingendo per recuperare ho perso l'anteriore finendo nuovamente a terra. È una giornata triste: non siamo riusciti a tenere il campionato aperto come sperato, ma devo ringraziare il team sia per il lavoro di oggi che per quanto fatto finora". 

Peter Sebestyen: "Per prima cosa mi dispiace per la caduta di Steven nel primo giro. Sono stato fortunato nella circostanza, poi ho cercato di sfruttare l'occasione, anche grazie alla grande confidenza che avevo con la #moto. Nella seconda parte della corsa purtroppo ho perso tanta aderenza sull'anteriore, così ho cercato di conquistare il miglior risultato possibile senza finire a terra. Sono molto contento per questo risultato: abbiamo dimostrato di poter puntare a grandi risultati". 

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "E' una giornata dai tanti sapori diversi. Per quanto concerne Steven siamo stati sfortunati, ma cose del genere possono accadere nelle corse: forse avremmo potuto lottare per il podio, ma è difficile dirlo ora. Siamo invece molto felici di Peter, che ha colto una bellissima quinta posizione. Purtroppo non è riuscito a mantenere nella seconda parte dei gara lo stesso passo della prima, ma resta una grande prestazione. Ora dobbiamo pensare all'Indonesia, per chiudere nel migliore dei modi la stagione".

Highs and lows for the Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team in Race 2 at #sanjuan: Odendaal down, Sebestyen excellent fifth

Sunday has a peculiar taste for the Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team, that by virtue of the results of Race 2 can both complain and celebrate. Steven Odendaal's race in fact ended with a withdrawal, following two crashes, while #petersebestyen took a beautiful fifth position. 

Day 3 in #sanjuan opened with the warm up, which lasted the usual 15 minutes. Here both Odendaal and Sebestyen completed nine laps, putting the finishing touches for Race 2, obtaining respectively the 6th and 7th position at the end of the session. At 13.30 Race 2 starts. 
After a good start from the second spot Odendaal entered the first corner in third position, but he was involved in Gonzalez' crash. After restarting the South African rider tried to recover, in order to get as many points as possible, but his race was definitely over during the thirteenth lap, due to a second crash at turn 16. In spite of today's zero Steven keeps the second position in the championship with 313 points, but his run for the world title is mathematically interrupted, because of the 68 points of delay towards the new champion Aegerter. 
A day to remember instead for #petersebestyen, at his first top five of his career in #worldssp. After an excellent start and immediately in third position, Peter fought for the podium until about halfway through the race, when a slight drop in performance forced him to defend himself from the return of the opponents. Despite this, the Hungarian rider managed to conquer a splendid fifth place, with which he improves his previous best result of the season (7th) and confirms his exponential growth. 

Thanks to the results of the weekend, the Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team maintains the third place in the team standings, with 377 points. At the end of the Argentinean round, the team from Ravenna will be back on track on November 19-20-21 on the unprecedented track of Mandalika (Indonesia), for the last round of the 2021 season.

Steven Odendaal: "After a good start I got to the first corner, and there I was touched in the rear wheel and ended up on the ground. Falling when you are in the first positions is always dangerous, but luckily everything went well. Once I restarted I realized that I crashed together with Gonzalez, and while I was pushing to recover I lost the front and crashed again. It's a sad day: we didn't manage to keep the championship open as we hoped, but I have to thank the team both for today's work and for what we have done so far". 

Peter Sebestyen: "First of all I'm sorry for Steven's fall in the first lap. I was lucky in the circumstance, then I tried to take advantage of the opportunity, also thanks to the great confidence I had with the bike. In the second part of the race unfortunately I lost a lot of grip on the front, so I tried to get the best possible result without crashing. I'm very happy with this result: we showed that we can aim for great results".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "It's a day with many different flavors. As far as Steven is concerned, we were unlucky, but things like this can happen in #racing: maybe we could have been fighting for the podium, but it's hard to say now. On the other hand, we are very happy with Peter, who took a wonderful fifth position. Unfortunately he wasn't able to maintain the same pace in the second half of the race as he did in the first, but it was still a great performance. Now we have to think about Indonesia, to close the season in the best way".
