  • Successful premiere of the new open-air format with around 100 events
  • Reservations for summer 2022 are already possible now

Stuttgart. A colourful cultural summer programme with around 100 dates: from mid-June to the end of September, the “Stadtkultur am #mercedesbenz Museum” (Urban Culture at the #mercedesbenz Museum) on the open-air stage thrilled visitors with a varied programme ranging from clubbing to cabaret. The successful concept: the Museum makes the open-air stage available to artists, theatres, clubs, associations and other partners and the institutions organise their own events. Everything is done according to the current pandemic containment regulations.

“We launched ‘Urban Culture at the #mercedesbenz Museum’ so that artists and visitors can come together and enjoy great moments together at a time that is not easy,” says Bettina Haussmann, Director of the #mercedesbenz Museum. “This idea has worked out perfectly for everyone: for the audience, for the partners, for us. I am happy that something completely new could emerge during this extraordinary time. We would therefore like to continue ‘Urban Culture’ in 2022 – in addition to our own popular events, which we hope will then be able to take place again: the concert summer, the open-air cinema and the all-brand modern-classic and vintage car meeting Classics & Coffee.”

Organisers can already express their interest in “Urban Culture” for 2022 at the #mercedesbenz Museum, most easily via the enquiry module at www.mercedes-benz.com/stadtkultur.

Concerts, theatre, comedy, clubbing, dance, public live screenings of the European Football Championship, performances and lectures. The spectrum of “Urban Culture at the #mercedesbenz Museum” has been enormous in recent months. Despite mixed weather, the music events, for example, were very well received by the audience, especially the 25 completely sold-out club events.

Response to “Urban Culture at the #mercedesbenz Museum”

“JOiN is grateful to have been able to use the possibilities of the open-air stage of the #mercedesbenz Museum, especially during the time of the pandemic. Outdoors and thus avoiding the indoor restrictions, the analogue as well as hybrid events, such as NESENBACH or ZOOM IN MONTEVERDI, which we were able to stage there were of great artistic power and social relevance for us.”
Elena Tzavara, JOiN

“The great location was the spark for the idea to start the Kanonenfutter Improv Summer: open air and a large stage which can also have a family feel. Our eyes are already sparkling at the idea of being back next year.”
Janis Goldschmitt, Kanonenfutter Improv Theatre

“For Panopticum, the opportunity to hold an #event on the open-air stage was a great chance to be active given the current coronavirus measures and to offer artists a platform. The collaboration was enriching and fun!”
Juliane Blanck, Panopticum e.V.

“In times of the pandemic, the #mercedesbenz Museum offered us creative artists an extraordinary opportunity to put on great open-air events in a wonderful location compliant with the coronavirus restrictions – thank you for that!”
Marius Lehnert, Discotronic

“Exceptional location, great cooperation, friendly interaction – a triple thumbs-up to the team.”
Sebastian Simon, Lehmann Club

“Oh, the experience was awesome. Crew and sound were perfect and very accommodating. I wish more venues and production teams were this organised and professional. Would love to work with them again.”
Dane Drewis, singer

“Being able to play pandemic-compliant open-air gigs with a full infrastructure on site was a great opportunity for us as organisers. It enabled us to create performance opportunities for artists in the first place and also to create culture again on our part.”
Stefan Buck, SBEntertainment GmbH & Co.KG

“For us as a club, the Open Air at the Mercedes Benz Museum in the summer was the only opportunity to revive the Freund + Kupferstecher spirit despite the pandemic together with our resident DJs and our guests after more than a year – at least for one evening. We are very grateful for this opportunity.”
Felix Klenk, Freund + Kupferstecher
