The #1000dunas reveals great news ahead of this year’s edition

The world’s safest motorbike raid has celebrated launching the countdown to the starting flag being waved at its 2021 edition by bringing Triumph Motorcycles on board as a new official sponsor

The third edition of the #1000dunas raid is expected to be one of the most powerful ever run. Despite being forced to delay the race by 5 weeks to guarantee the safety of the #event, this raid once again shows there is no obstacle which can stop you keeping your passion alive. In fact, following the forced break in 2020, the project led by #miguelpuertas, ex-Dakar rider and Sporting Director of the #1000dunas, has this year been strengthened by the support of famous British motorcycle firm, Triumph. The raid, which will start in #granada on 27 November, crosses the most arid areas of Morocco on exclusive motorcycle tracks to reach the Merzouga desert, before returning to the Andalusian city on 4 December.

The 1000 DUNAS family already enjoys strong support from RACERED, the Italian-Spanish premium equipment company for motorcyclists. A brand born in 2013 on the basis of an entirely handcrafted 'Made in Italy' philosophy, its hallmarks are craftsmanship and exquisite attention to detail. The use of the best materials -from the fabrics to the buttons or zips- guarantees the highest quality, as well as safety when using them on two wheels. This raid will also serve to test their new range of Enduro trousers, available soon. The core values which inspired the brand’s creation are safety, comfort and style and these remain the focal point today as they continue to offer products which deliver style and comfort in harmony.

Now the competition is growing, with Triumph becoming an official sponsor of this unique all-level motorcycle experience. A passion for adventure, focus on the riders and their safety and the value of self-improvement are some of the central pillars shared by both organizations, leading them to become strategic allies in this inspiring project.

Since its inception in 2018, the #1000dunas raid has asserted its status as the safest desert-based motorcycle adventure in the world. With the race course designed exclusively for motorcycles, the emphasis is placed on the riders’ navigational abilities (using Roadbook or GPS) and resilience, avoiding the high average speeds often seen in other tests.

That’s why this raid, which still has some spaces available for participants, is undoubtedly an experience which will see you push your own personal limits. From those who have just started out in the racing world to experts looking to improve their navigation skills or prepare for other races, it’s no coincidence riders of 9 different nationalities have already confirmed their place to embark on this unforgettable adventure.

It’s a unique opportunity for passionate off-road enthusiasts, regardless of the type of motorcycle at their disposal, as they will feel supported throughout by an organizational team comprised of over 50 people. This will certainly be an unforgettable occasion for all those involved, especially any novices, as they will get the chance to share this adventure with more experienced riders. In short, it’s one of the most intense, challenging and enriching life experiences available on planet Earth.

The presence of a brand like Triumph adds to the very essence and appealing DNA of the original desert courses from the 1960s, when the British motorbikes stood out thanks to their superior performance. The Bonneville T-120TT, T120C and TR6-C were the first series production scramblers to triumph in off-road competitions, before being chosen by Steve McQueen to race in the desert, where his good friend Bud Ekins also competed and won one of the most demanding desert races of all time: the Baja 1000.

The British motorcycle firm’s support being added to the personnel already made up of #1000dunas and RACERED allows us to expand this experience and make the #event even more international, reinforcing a shared commitment to provide fans of trail and off-road biking the perfect way to quench their thirst for adventure. Indeed, the recent development of the British motorcycle firm’s involvement in the world of MX and Enduro adds an extra edge to the adventure.

The #1000dunas raid is set to depart from #granada on 27 November before returning on 4 December having passed through the dunes of the Merzouga desert. The #event is preparing for a 2021 edition that is growing at every step and is sure to be full of excitement for all the participants and their loved ones, who can follow the daily summaries of the race and keep up to date on how it’s all going.
