Herndon, VA — #volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 2021 #id4 SUV and 2021 #arteon have won their respective categories at this year’s Texas #auto Roundup, an annual spring driving event of the Texas #auto Writers Association (TAWA) media group. Hosted at the Texas Motor Speedway, the event allowed journalists to experience and compare numerous vehicles from most major automakers in one place.
For 2021, TAWA elevated the Green Vehicle of Texas category to major award status, given the growth in electrified vehicle offerings. The award was won by Volkswagen’s all-new, all-electric #id4 SUV. “It’s a great honor that #id4 has been named the Green Vehicle of Texas,” said Matthew Renna, Vice President E-mobility and Innovation, #volkswagen of America. “Having organizations like Texas #auto Writers Association educate the public on our brand’s electric future – and EVs in general – is valuable to the transition to electrification.”
Recently named 2021 World Car of the Year, the #id4 ushers in a new era of e-mobility for #volkswagen. On sale across the United States, the SUV is the brand’s first step towards a goal of democratizing EVs for all, with an MSRP of $39,995 for the #id4 Pro model, and a potential Federal tax credit of $7,500.
As well as this award, #volkswagen also picked up the award for Best Midsize Car with the refreshed 2021 #arteon. “An amazing accolade for our #arteon,” said Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, #volkswagen of America, Inc. “This car delivers so much, and does so in such stunning fashion. It’s great to see it shine in this key #automotive category.”
The refreshed #arteon features a refined front end with sharpened design elements, and a redesigned cockpit with upgraded décor and cutting-edge technology.
For over 30 years, the Texas #auto Writers Association has made its mission to promote accuracy and quality in the #automotive journalism field. The media group hosts two signature drive events each year: the springtime Texas #auto Roundup and the Texas Truck Rodeo held in the fall.
