Belgium, joins Women's World Car Of The Year

 Sabrina Parant is the newest woman appointed to the world’s only international female car jury 

Women’s World Car of the year is pleased to announce a female judge from Belgium as a member of #wwcoty. The appointment of Sabrina marks a new record of female motoring journalists expanding the jury to 52 judges from 40 countries across all continents.  

Sabrina Parant started her life with cars in 2002 by working in a Volvo dealership as a Fleet Advisor. She excelled at her job and soon became the Sales Manager and then Dealership Manager. In 2008, Sabrina went from Swedish cars to German cars, joining Volkswagen. She also created Ladies Drive “Being a woman in this sector and progressing up the career ladder has not been an easy path. So I decided to create a network to help other women in the same situation, to promote #automotive jobs and to fight against stereotypes and sexism”.  

She started sharing her love of cars by writing for the magazine Moniteur de l'Automobile and then Essentielle #auto (La Libre & La DH). Her favorite category is sports cars, and today she is passionate about new technological developments and new motorizations. “Our sector has such a capacity to adapt to the challenges of society and the environment. I am proud of my passion. I will be happy to put my expertise at the service of the #wwcoty to reward the vehicles in the different categories. Becoming a #wwcoty judge is a wonderful achievement for me”. 

Belgium is a country with a long tradition of cars. D’Ieteren sold the first automobile registered in the country in 1895, the same year that the first automobile club was founded in Belgium. Today 90% of families have at least one car. Before the First World War, Belgium had nearly 200 manufacturers with famous cars such as Minerva, Imperia, FN, Excelsior, Pipe... Three-quarters of Belgium’s car production was exported to the whole world.  

The automobile industry plays a major role in Belgium’s economic activities, employing approximately 265,000 #people in all automobile industry facets. Belgium has a splendid automobile museum, Autoworld, with incredible temporary exhibitions and is a must-see in Brussels.
