Sauber Motorsport names Zadara as Official Cloud Supplier

Hinwil, 22nd February 2021 – Sauber Motorsport, which manages and operates the Alfa Romeo #racing ORLEN entry in the Formula One world championship, has named Zadara, the US-based leader in edge cloud services, as the team’s Official Cloud Supplier. This partnership marks a new first in the sport’s history as the first of its kind forged 100% virtually as the 2020 pandemic unfolded. Never before had a technology partnership been developed entirely over digital channels, including the technical architecture assessment and design - a partnership truly engineered in the cloud.
In a sport where every millisecond matters, the ability to access real-time data for instantaneous analysis is critically important. With hundreds of sensors continuously collecting telemetry data on the cars, the track and the drivers during every session, Zadara’s edge cloud technology will enable Alfa Romeo #racing ORLEN to maximise its race weekend performance with cloud capabilities delivered at the edge.
The team’s engineers rely on increasing amounts of data produced by each car during race weekend. These volumes of data inform research and development, engineering modifications, and race strategy. With this partnership, Zadara’s cloud services will dramatically streamline Sauber Motorsport’s cloud infrastructure, while enhancing performance and improving latency, making race data readily available.
Zadara branding will adorn the Alfa Romeo #racing ORLEN C41’s bodywork, with the American company’s logos also featured on the drivers’ and crew overalls during the 2021 season.
