The new #peugeot #208, launched at the end of August in #argentina, has much to celebrate. It has just established its leadership in the compact sedan segment for the third consecutive month.
As an echo to this sales performance, it was awarded the title of "Car of the Year 2020" in the "Regional Production" category on 2 December by journalists who are members of the PIA ("Periodistas de la Industria Automotriz”[1]). This is the 21st award received by the new #peugeot #208 in the world and the first in #argentina.
Undisputed sales leader
Since it was launched in #argentina at the end of August 2020, the new #peugeot #208 has, for the third consecutive month, been the number one seller in the Hach Mainstream B segment, with a 26.6% segment share in November alone. This segment is itself on the rise, accounting for 12.5% of the Argentinian market in October and 13.3% in November.
The new #peugeot #208, manufactured at the El Palomar factory (Buenos Aires), accounts for nearly half of the brand's sales in #argentina.
PIA's "Car of the Year 2020" award
On 2 December, the 28 members of the PIA ("Periodistas de la Industria Automotriz") awarded the new #peugeot #208 the coveted title of "Car of the Year 2020" in the "Regional Production" category.
The jury required that the participating vehicles be all new models, or redesigns of existing models, launched between 1 December 2019 and 30 November 2020. The decisive factor for winning the title - in either category - was to choose the best price, product and innovation ratio.
This is the 21st prize won by the new #peugeot #208, after prevailing over the prestigious COTY 2020 ("Car Of The Year 2020[2]") prize awarded last March by the European press, and the first prize won by the city car in #argentina.
