Mazda MX-5 captures Auto Trophy for third consecutive year

Adding to an awards collection numbering in the hundreds, the #mazda #mx5 has won the 2020 #autotrophy in the Import Convertible category. It marks a “three-peat” for the world’s favourite roadster after securing the same prize, chosen by readers of German fortnightly magazine Auto Zeitung, in 2018 and 2019.
With 16.8% of votes in its category, the #mx5 (as in past years) outpaced considerably pricier models including the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante (12.9%) and Jaguar F-Type Convertible (9.3%). Some 18,800 Auto Zeitung readers voted for their favourite vehicles for the 33rd time this year, choosing from 304 models in 18 classes.
More than 1.1 million MX-5s have been sold since the initial launch in 1989, making it the best-selling two-seater sports car in history. The current fourth-generation model is offered as both the soft-top
MX-5 and #mx5 RF retractable fastback. The latter features a unique three-piece power hardtop.
