Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Secondo posto di Mahias nelle prove libere a Magny Cours
Pioggia e temperature fresche oggi a Magny Cours in #francia, per la prima giornata del settimo e penultimo round del #campionatomondialesupersport.
I due piloti del #kawasakipuccettiracing, #lucasmahias e #philippoettl hanno disputato la prima sessione di prove libere sulla pista bagnata dalla pioggia che è caduta ininterrottamente dalla notte precedente. Sulla sua pista di casa Mahias, nonostante un’innocua scivolata, ha ottenuto il secondo posto (1’57”535) mentre Oettl che non aveva mai corso in precedenza su questo tracciato, ha chiuso in dodicesima posizione (1’59”839).
Anche il secondo turno del pomeriggio si è disputato sotto la pioggia, ma su di una pista con meno acqua rispetto al mattino e quindi i piloti si sono potuti migliorare. Mahias ha abbassato il suo best lap (1’55”062) mantenendo la seconda posizione nella classifica cumulativa. Anche Oettl, che inizia a prendere confidenza con la pista, si è migliorato (1’55”067) ed ha concluso all’undicesimo posto.
Nella giornata di domani entrambi i piloti del #kawasakipuccettiracing disputeranno l’ultimo turno di prove libere e a seguire la Superpole e la dodicesima gara del mondiale Supersport.

MAHIAS: "Penso che questa sia stata la prima volta che ho disputato due intere sessioni sotto la pioggia, da quando guido la ZX-6R. E’ stata una buona giornata e sono abbastanza soddisfatto del lavoro svolto. Dobbiamo ancora apportare qualche miglioramento al set up della #moto, ma in linea di massima sulla pista bagnata penso che siamo a posto. Bisognerà vedere cosa ci riserverà il meteo nei prossimi giorni, ma di certo ci sapremo adattare. Grazie al mio team che anche oggi mi ha aiutato molto”.
OETTL: “Non è stata una giornata facile perché ho dovuto imparare a conoscere la pista e ad utilizzare le gomme Pirelli rain, che non avevo mai avuto modo di usare ion precedenza. In generale penso che abbiamo fatto un ottimo lavoro ed abbiamo imparato molto. Secondo le previsioni tutto il weekend sarà sotto la pioggia e quindi dobbiamo continuare su questa strada. Abbiamo ancora del margine di miglioramento e domani cercheremo di raffinare l’assetto della nostra Ninja per essere pronti per la Superpole e per la prima gara. Ringrazio la squadra che mi ha supportato al meglio”.
Kawasaki Puccetti #racing – Mahias second in free practice at Magny Cours
The seventh and penultimate round of the Supersport World Championship has got underway at the Magny Cours in France in rainy and cool conditions.
Kawasaki Puccetti #racing riders #lucasmahias and #philippoettl completed the first free practice session on a wet track following heavy rain fall last night. At his home track and despite an innocuous fall, Mahias scored second place (1’57”535) while Oettl, who has never raced at this track before, rounded out the opening session in twelfth place (1’59”839).
The afternoon’s second session also took place in the rain, but on a track that was slightly less wet than it was this morning, meaning that riders were able to improve on their lap times. Mahias lowered his best lap (1’55”062) to retain second place in the combined standings. And as he continues to build confidence with the track, Oettl was also able to improve (1’55”067), finishing in eleventh place.
Tomorrow will see both #kawasakipuccettiracing riders taking part in the final free practice session, followed by the Superpole and the twelfth race of the Supersport season.

MAHIAS: “I think this is the first time I’ve completed two full sessions in the rain since I’ve been riding the ZX-6R. We had a good day and I’m quite pleased with the work we’ve got done. We still need to make some changes to the bike set-up, but I think we’re more or less there in the wet. We need to see what the weather will bring over the weekend, but I’m sure we’ll be able to adapt. Thanks to my team for all their help again today.”
OETTL: “It hasn’t been an easy day because I had to learn the track and use the Pirelli rain tyres, which I hadn’t used before. Overall, I think we’ve done a great job and learned a lot. It looks like the weather will be wet all weekend and so we need to continue along this path. We still have room for improvement and tomorrow we’ll try to refine the set-up of our Ninja so that we’re ready for the Superpole and race one. I want to thank the team for their hard work.”
