Silverstone, here we come: On 13 May 1950, Nino Farina won the opening round of the newly inaugurated Formula One World Championship at Silverstone. Next weekend, the premier class of motor #racing returns to the venue where the first ever Grand Prix was held 70 years ago. The first Mercedes victory at Silverstone was recorded in 1955 by Silver Arrows legend Sir Stirling Moss. Since then, Nico Rosberg (2013) and Lewis Hamilton (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) have registered a further six victories for the team in the British Grand Prix. Having now lifted six winner’s trophies in his home race, Lewis is the most successful Formula 1 driver on this circuit. He also has nine podium finishes and six pole positions there to his credit, which qualifies him as the record holder in these two categories as well. A Formula 1 car powered by a Mercedes engine has won the race at the self-styled ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ on twelve occasions. As at Spielberg in Austria, which hosted two races at the start of the current season, Silverstone will also be staging two races within a week, the second of which has been designated the ‘70th #anniversary Grand Prix’.

Climax in Berlin: While Formula 1 looks forward to the fourth race weekend of the season at Silverstone, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team is working flat out to prepare for the grand finale to the 2019/20 season in Berlin. The ABB FIA Formula E Championship will stage no fewer than six races within the short space of nine days on three different track configurations at Berlin Tempelhof. In all six E-Prixs, the cars driven by Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries will display a new black base livery as a statement by the #mercedesbenzmotorsport family in support of greater diversity and in opposition to racism and any form of discrimination. The first two rounds on 5 and 6 August will be driven anticlockwise. In parallel with the Formula 1 #anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone, races eight and nine of the Formula E season will be contested on the traditional track layout at Tempelhof – meaning that all four Mercedes Formula 1 and Formula E cars will be appearing that weekend with an all-black base livery. The final two races of the 2019/20 Formula E season on 12 and 13 August will be contested on a new, longer track layout.

Action-packed start in Imola gives foretaste of GT World Challenge Europe season: Mercedes-AMG Motorsport got its GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS campaign off to a decent start with a podium finish at Imola. But an eventful three hours in the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola also showed why the series is one of the most fiercely contested of all. Timur Boguslavsky (RUS), Felipe Fraga (BRA) and Raffaele Marciello (ITA) in the number 88 Mercedes-AMG fielded by AKKA ASP finished third, but the other customer teams were out of luck. This was especially the case for the number 4 car of Mercedes-AMG Team HRT and for GetSpeed Performance. HRT driver Maro Engel (GER) became a victim of the jostling for position at the start and fell back down the field. After a subsequent drive-through penalty, the team were only able to work their way back up to 15th. Team GetSpeed Performance battled through from 21st to sixth place before being shunted out of the race by an opponent. The Customer #racing teams were thus given a foretaste of what to expect during the rest of the GT World Challenge Europe season, which is characterised by a high level of #racing incidents. To finish among the points, contestants therefore need a goodly portion of #racing fortune. The series will continue with three sprint races on the weekend of 7 ‑ 9 August at Misano. The calendar then features three more sprint events (Magny-Cours, Zandvoort, Barcelona) followed by four long-distance races. The GT World Challenge Europe will also call in at the Nürburgring in Germany on the weekend of 5/6 September. The standout event is, however, the 24-hour race at Spa (29/30 September). The finale will take place on the weekend of 13 - 15 November at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Class podiums at the start of the 2020 GT4 European Series: The GT4 European Series, which shares the billing with the GT World Challenge Europe, also made a start last weekend. In Sunday’s race, there were two class podiums for the Mercedes-AMG Customer #racing teams. Lluc Ibañez and Xavier Lloveras (both ESP) in the number 15 Mercedes-AMG of NM #racing secured third place in the Silver Cup. Wim Spinoy (BEL) and Kay van Berlo (NED) in the number 30 of Selleslagh #racing matched the result in the Pro-Am class.

Perfect outcomes for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the Mercedes-AMG GT4: Three races – three victories. In the season opener of the ESET V4 Cup in Rijeka, Croatia, Libor Milota (CZE) and GT2 Motorsport posted a flawless start to the campaign. In the season opener at Automotodrom Grobnik, Milota in the number 2 Mercedes-AMG GT3 won Saturday’s 25-minute race. In the following one-hour race, he and co-driver Sergey Pavlovec (CZE) claimed a second victory. The duo then made it three wins out of three in Sunday’s sprint race. The Mercedes-AMG GT4s of Capital #racing and Wicked Speed #racing recorded a double one-two in the Russian GT4 Championship at Sosnovo. Denis Remenyako (RUS, Capital #racing Team) crossed the finish line ahead of Alexandr Vaintrub (RUS, Wicked Speed Racing) over 13 laps and then over 15 laps at Igora Drive.
