Rüsselsheim/Berlin. The #opel Corsa is democratising electric mobility. With the all-new, sixth-generation Corsa, #opel is offering for the first time a battery-electric version with a range of up to 337 kilometres (WLTP)2. The #corsae is orderable for €29,900 (RRP incl. VAT in Germany). Where applicable, incentives lower the price.

The #corsae Selection already offers automatic climate control with remote control, electric parking brake and keyless start, the Apple CarPlay and Android #auto compatible Multimedia radio with 7-inch colour touchscreen and a digital cockpit. Systems such as forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, active lane assist, traffic sign recognition and cruise control are on-board at no extra cost. The Edition is the next higher equipped variant. The #corsae First Edition fulfils nearly every wish. Standard equipment here includes LED headlights, 17-inch light alloy wheels and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The new-generation Corsa additionally offers segment-leading safety systems.

Impressive data: 100kW (136hp) power output, up to 337 km range (WLTP)2

The new #corsae offers state-of-the-art electric mobility. With a range of up to 337 km according to WLTP2, the five-seat #corsae is suitable for every-day use. The 50 kWh battery can be fast-charged to up to 80 per cent state-of-charge in 30 minutes. The #corsae is ready for all charging options – via wall box, high-speed charging or cable for household sockets – and an eight-year/160,000km warranty covers the battery.

The driver can choose from three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sport. Sport increases driving dynamics, with a moderate effect on driving range. In Eco mode, the #corsae supports the driver to achieve greater efficiency.

The Corsa-e’s propulsion system combines emission-free driving with a maximum “fun-to-drive” factor. Thanks to the 100kW (136hp) power output and a 260 Nm of instantaneous maximum torque, the highlights include responsiveness, agility and dynamic performance. The #corsae needs only 2.8 seconds to sprint from zero to 50 km/h, or only 8.1 seconds from zero to 100 km/h – a match for sports cars. The maximum speed of 150km/h is electronically controlled.

The #corsae delivers a dynamic drive thanks not only to its permanent-magnet synchronous motor but also to its sporty design, while retaining the compact exterior dimensions of previous generations. With a length of 4.06 metres, the Corsa remains an agile, practical and well-arranged five-seater. Aerodynamically optimized wheels further enhance looks as well as efficiency. The roofline is coupé-like and 48mm lower than that of the previous generation, without detriment to headroom. The driver sits 28mm lower. Handling and driving dynamics benefit from the lower centre of gravity. The handling of every new Corsa variant is responsive and dynamic, for maximum fun behind the steering wheel. Customers can further upgrade the interior with leather seats.

The #corsae uses a heat pump to warm and cool the interior. A heat pump is more efficient than a conventional HVAC (heating ventilation air conditioning) system, requiring less energy from the battery, to the benefit of driving range.

Safety first: IntelliLux LED® Matrix light, side blind-spot assist, front collision warning

Technologies and assistance systems more often found in higher market segments make their debut in the #corsae. The top features include the adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux LED® matrix light that #opel offers for the first time in the small car segment. The eight LED elements, controlled by a high-resolution front camera of the newest-generation, continuously adapt the light beam to the prevailing traffic situation and the surroundings. The #corsae is also optionally available with especially efficient LED lights that save more than 80 per cent of energy compared with halogen, without compromising light output; on the contrary, thanks to a special reflector technology, the LED headlights also turn night into day.

Advanced driver assistance systems provide tangible additional safety. Thanks to the high-tech front camera, traffic sign recognition detects a wide range of information, such as LED signs. The speed limits saved in the system appear on the display.

Radar supported cruise control and sensor-based flank-guard celebrate their premiere in the new Corsa. If the car leaves the lane unintentionally, active lane assist applies gentle corrective steering. With Active Drive Assist engaged, the car is kept in the centre of the driving lane. Adaptive cruise control maintains a certain following distance to the vehicle ahead, using radar and camera sensors. The system offers additional stop and go functionality, braking the car to a standstill and following the vehicle ahead in traffic jams. Side blind zone assist and a variety of parking assistants are available.

Multimedia systems, “OpelConnect” services, “myOpel” app and “Free2Move”

New infotainment systems comprising the Multimedia Navi with 7.0-inch colour touchscreen, as well as the top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro with 10.0-inch colour touchscreen, keep drivers and passengers fully connected. The #corsae also offers the new “OpelConnect” service. Helpful functions, such as Live Navigation[2] with real-time traffic information, as well as direct connection with roadside assistance and eCall, give additional peace of mind. With e-remote control, customers can check the state-of-charge, set charging times or pre-heat or cool the interior before the drive, via the “myOpel” on their compatible smartphone. The “Free2Move” app not only supplies an overview of available public charging stations and additional information, but also enables payment.
