F&H Racing’s #mikkelhaarup and #roanvandemoosdijk sensationally put their Kawasaki’s on pole and second for tomorrow’s opening round of the FIM World #mx2 #motocross Championship at #matterleybasin.

Heavy overnight rain at the sweeping grassland track in southern England caused officials to revise the programme and, in order to preserve track conditions for race day, grid positions for both GP classes were decided during twenty-minute timed-lap sessions rather than the usual qualification race. Displaying their ability to adapt to both the ever-changing track conditions and the revised format the two teenagers devastated the opposition on their KX250s. The Danish teenager Haarup, making his Kawasaki debut for the F&H #racing Team this weekend, was not just content with posting the fastest lap time of the session; his second-fastest lap was also faster than anybody else could achieve! Van de Moosdijk completed a truly satisfactory day for the F&H Kawasaki camp with second-fastest time; the Dutch teenager was just over half a second behind his teammate. Mathys Boisrame, the third member of the F&H team, completed the top ten, another remarkable testimony to the quality of the 2020 KX250 as this was the Frenchman’s first official outing of the season after he had sat out the final month of preparation due to a hand injury sustained whilst practising in January.

Mikkel Haarup: „The track was really difficult after all that rain but we had a good winter with the team so I’m sure all three of us are ready for it. I honestly didn’t expect to do so well but I think everyone was a little tense for the start of the new season; I just tried to relax, my Kawasaki was working so good and I could put in those two really good laps. There are some big jumps out there and you had to be very cautious not to cross-rut on the take-offs but I think our class was the luckiest as it started to rain again as soon as our session finished. Hopefully it will be a little drier tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to the two GP motos. “

In a weather-affected #mxgp qualification Clement Desalle of the Monster Energy #kawasakiracing Team secured sixth choice of gate for tomorrow’s GP motos before a mixture of snow, sleet and hail effectively prevented any expectations of an even faster time. KRT teammate Romain Febvre had to be content with twenty-fourth time as the weather suddenly worsened before the Frenchman could launch his best effort.
