Countdown to the new Golf: Golf Mk6 – high-end in a compact format

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

2.85 million #golfmk6 vehicles were produced between 2008 and 2012. Golf generation number 6 once again represented a leap forward in terms of safety: the still laser-welded body scored the maximum of five stars in the EuroNCAP crash test with flying colours. An armada of new assist systems also premiered in this Golf – they marked the breakthrough of high-tech safety and comfort technologies.

Assist systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Park Assist, the automatically steering park assist system, Hill Start Assist and convenience technologies including DCC adaptive chassis control made the 2009 “World Car of the Year” the most progressive Golf at this point in time. Also on board as standard or as an option: features, such as the start/stop system and energy recovery mode, the knee airbag and dynamic cornering light as well as LED tail light clusters.

In terms of quality, the interior of the #golfmk6 was also considered pioneering. Drive systems became ever more efficient: new TSI engines – turbo-charged petrol engines – and the conversion of turbo diesel injection (TDI) engines from unit injector technology to the Common Rail system also guaranteed more dynamism and comfort while simultaneously cutting consumption. Even if the #golfmk6 is only available as a used car nowadays – thanks to its outstanding product characteristics and its superior, timeless design it will continue to form a part of our everyday streetscape for a long time to come.
