From #Singapore to Sochi: Following the standout fixture under the floodlights of #Singapore, Formula 1 moves on to Sochi where the Russian Grand Prix will be staged. The Sochi Autodrom will present quite a contrast with the tight and twisty street circuit in Southeast Asia, as it is one of the newer circuits on the itinerary. This year’s visit to the Black Sea resort will be the sixth by the premier class of motor #racing. A Mercedes driver has lifted the winner’s trophy on every single occasion since the debut year of 2014 – #lewishamilton three times, #valtteribottas and Nico Rosberg once each. The team also has an impressive record in terms of qualifying, with four out of five pole positions having gone to the reigning constructor world champions – twice to Nico, once each to Lewis and Valtteri. Mercedes hold both lap records for the track – fastest race lap (1:35.861 mins, Valtteri in 2018) and absolute lap record (1:31.387 mins, Valtteri in Q3 2018).

Overall victory, class podiums and vital championship points in the USAMercedes-AMG Motorsport enjoyed an exceptionally successful weekend in the Pirelli #gt4america SprintX hosted by Road America. The Murillo #racing duo of Matt Fassnacht and Christian Szymczak (both USA, #34) were in particularly good form: having started the first 60-minute race from fourth, they went on to finish first overall as well as first in the GT4 East Am class. In the second race, Fassnacht and Szymczak repeated their win in class while coming second overall. This was enough for them to clinch the championship in the GT4 East Am classification on the final weekend of the campaign. For RENNtech Motorsports too, the weekend was a huge success: Patrick Byrne and Guy Cosmo (both USA) in the number 89 Mercedes-AMG GT4 were the winners in the East Pro-Am class and second overall. The combined result was a first one-two for AMG in this year’s Pirelli #gt4america SprintX. In Sunday’s race, Byrne and Cosmo started from pole position and again featured on the podium, this time for P3 overall and P2 in class. They scored vital points towards the team and drivers’ championships in the Pirelli #gt4america SprintX which concludes on the weekend of 18th - 20th October in Las Vegas.

Also at Road America, Colin Braun and George Kurtz (both USA) of DXDT #racing were meanwhile competing in the Blancpain GT World Challenge America. The duo narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing the first 90-minute race of the weekend fourth in their class and sEventh overall. In the second race, Braun and Kurtz in the number 4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 once again added to their championship points haul with Top Ten finishes in class (P5) and overall (P9).

Triumphs, class successes and assorted podium finishes in EuropeGiuseppe Cipriani (ITA) is the new leader in the Am classification of the #internationalgtopen. After winning both the Saturday and the Sunday race at the Circuit de Catalunya, the Antonelli MotorSport driver in the number 8 Mercedes-AMG GT3 moved up to the top of the Am championship table. Janine Hill (GBR) and John Shoffner (USA) of GetSpeed Performance (#11) took turns on the podium rung for the runner-up over the two days. Cipriani’s team-mates Riccardo Agostini and Loris Spinelli (both ITA) also contributed to a gratifying weekend in Barcelona: the duo in the number 6 car finished the first 70-minute race second after starting from twelfth on the grid. Accentuating a strong result for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Barcelona were the number 13 car of GetSpeed Performance (P3 and P2 in class) and the number 33 of Winward #racing / HTP Motorsport (P2 and P3 in class), i.e. no fewer than four podium appearances in two races.

The ninth and tenth races of the 2019 GT Cup Open Europe were also held at the Circuit de Catalunya. Fernando Fortes (BRA) in the number 32 Mercedes-AMG GT4 fielded by the Three Sixty Gentleman #racing Team took sixth place in class and two Top Ten finishes in the general classification (P10 in Race 1 and P9 in Race 2).

ABBA #racing dominated the sixth #Event of the 2019 GT Cup Championship at Donington Park. Richard and Sam Neary (both GBR) driving the number 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 won three of the four races staged over the weekend. The father-son partnership thus repeated their impressive performance of the previous outing at Brands Hatch where they also chalked up three victories in four races.

SPS automotive-performance entered a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. Their number 54 car was driven by Yannick Mettler and Dexter Müller (both SUI). At the end of the two-hour race on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the duo only just missed out on a podium in the GT3 class, but their P4 finish was still good enough for them to defend fifth place in the drivers’ and team standings of the series.

Successful race weekend in Asia and AustraliaTatsuya Kataoka and Nobuteru Taniguchi (both JPN) secured a second podium of the 2019 Super GT for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in the race at Sportsland SUGO. The two GOODSMILE #racing & TeamUKYO drivers finished as runners-up in the 81-lap race, a result that was enough to take them to third place in the drivers’ and team standings of the series. A successful weekend for AMG at Murata in Japan was further consolidated by a P4 for defending champions LEON #racing (#65).

In the Australian Endurance Championship, Peter Hackett in the number 63 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Eggleston Motorsport outperformed the rest of the field to win the final race of the season.
