Stats, stats and more stats – #spafrancorchamps: Formula 1 returned from its summer break last weekend to the legendary #spafrancorchamps roller-coaster in the Ardennes. The second half of the season began with a double podium for Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. As a result, Mercedes secured their 200th podium in motorsport's premier class and Valtteri achieved his 50th points-scoring finish with the Silver Arrows. For Lewis, it was his 145th appearance on the podium of his Formula 1 career and his Finnish partner's 40th. But there's no let-up for the team, as they face their next big challenge this weekend...

Monza, here we come: F1 has now moved on from Belgium to Italy where the season in Europe will come to an end in the Royal Park of Monza with the staging of the 70th Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. #f1 races have always been held at the famous circuit in Lombardy apart from one race at Imola in 1980. While the team may not be hot favourites to win in Italy this year, they can look back on a very successful track record from previous seasons. A Silver Arrows driver won the Grand Prix every year from 2014 to 2018 while his team-mate finished runner-up in more than half of those races, giving Mercedes three one-two wins; Lewis Hamilton appeared on the top spot of the podium four times while Nico Rosberg took one podium in 2016. The team secured a run of four pole positions in a row in qualifying from 2014 to 2017, each time with Lewis Hamilton, who is F1's all-time best qualifier at Monza with six pole positions. Lewis and Michael Schumacher head the list for the most wins at the track, having taken five victories each in Monza's Royal Park.

Clinching Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe championship titles through own efforts: Mercedes-AMG Customer #racing teams are still in the frame to win a number of titles following the penultimate meeting of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring. Driving BLACK FALCON’s #4 Mercedes-AMG #gt3, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz (both GER) took a P7 and a P4 in the two races at the Ring and could easily go out on track and wrap up titles in the drivers’ and team competitions this weekend at the Hungaroring season finale. Competing in the Silver Cup, the pairing of Nico Bastian (GER) and Thomas Neubauer (FRA) from AKKA ASP Team #89 are even better placed. With two seventh places in class, their comfortable lead may have been reduced a little but is still enough to enable them to go into the final round at the Hungaroring (6th-8th September) with a slim lead of 1.5 points. At the wheel of the sister car bearing start number 90, Timur Boguslavskiy (RUS) and Fabian Schiller (GER) twice finished second in class, ensuring that AKKA ASP’s lead in the team classification still remains quite healthy at 29.5 points.

Race win and title celebrations in #gt4europeanseries: No less than four Customer #racing teams had good reason to be cheerful in the season finale of the #gt4europeanseries at the Nürburgring. To get the ball rolling, Bullitt #racing clinched victory on the day in the first race on Saturday with drivers, Alex Lambertz (GER) and Romain Monti (FRA) and car #66, and then on Sunday, Leipert Motorsport secured the championship title in the team classification. The drivers’ title in the Pro-Am class also went to the German outfit. With a second and a third place in class, Marcus Paverud (NOR) and Luca Trefz (GER) in car #2 ensured that the top three positions in the championship went to Leipert Motorsport. Selleslagh #racing Team also finished the season in fine style with two Am victories in class during the finale. Jean-Luc Behets and Johann Vannerum (both BEL) in the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT4 were unstoppable on both days and finished third on the podium of the Am season classification. Also, Schwede Motorsport were third in class in the final standings of the #gt4europeanseries thanks to Pro-Am drivers, Jan Rehnig and Dominik Schraml (#777, both GER).

Points-scoring success and wins in the USA: DTXDT Racing’s Mercedes-AMG secured more vital points for the outfit in the constructors’ championship of the Blancpain GT World Challenge. In the two races of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America at Watkins Glen, Colin Braun and George Kurtz (both USA) finished fourth and fifth in class while David Askew (USA) and Ryan Dalziel (GBR) took P5 and P6 in class.

Murillo #racing also secured a win in the Pirelli GT4 America series at the same venue over the weekend. Matthew Fassnacht and Christian Szymczak (both USA) achieved victory overall in the second race on Sunday after finishing first in class on Saturday in the #34 Mercedes-AMG GT4. Alexandre Premat (FRA) and Mark Ramsey (USA) from Ramsey Racing/EXR Team by Premat notched up another podium finish in class with second place on Sunday.

Championship runners-up in 24-H series: CP #racing finished the European Championship of the 24-hour series in second place in the A6-Am class. At the season finale in Barcelona, the outfit’s four drivers, Charles Espenlaub, Joe Foster, Darren Law and Charles Putman (all USA), crossed the finish line fourth in class after 24 hours and 675 laps to book eighth place overall once all the teams’ results had been aggregated. The finale of the Championship of the Continents 24-hour series, the 24H COTA USA, will be on the weekend of 15th-17th November.

String of #gt3 and GT4 wins: ABBA #racing had a weekend that went almost perfectly for them in the GT Cup championship at Brands Hatch in the UK. Richard and Sam Neary (both GBR) won three out of four races in the #80 Mercedes-AMG #gt3. The father-son pairing also secured pole position three times.

Veloso Motorsport took two victories in the two races in the GT4 South European series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After achieving a lights-to-flag victory on Friday, Portuguese drivers Francisco Abreu and Miguel Cristovao (both POR), started Saturday's race from P2 on the grid and took the chequered flag in first place once more in their #88Mercedes-AMGGT4.Asaresult,theyleadboththePro-Amdrivers’standingsand the team classification in the run-up to the two final rounds.
