Volkswagen Andretti rallycross takes on Nitro World Games

Sep 20, 2018

The championship-winning #Volkswagen Andretti #rallycross team headlines the inaugural Nitro #rallycross #Event at the Utah Motorsports Campus

Herndon, VA (September 20,2018) — Volkswagen Andretti #rallycross will be among the protagonists this weekend as the #nitroworldgames introduces its Nitro #rallycross competition for the first time at the Utah Motorsports Campus. Scott Speed and Tanner Foust will face off against some of the world’s greatest #rally and action sports stars, hoping to stand atop the podium in what promises to be a spectacular #Event.

Speed and Foust currently sit first and second in the Americas #rallycross championship standings. While results at the #nitroworldgames will not affect the duo's ARX rankings, both drivers are eager to make the most of their outing in Utah. Each hopes to earn the right to put their name in the record book as the first Nitro #rallycross #Event winner.

The unique nature of the one-off, all-star #Event has caught the attention of reigning #rallycross champion, Scott Speed.

“This is an all-out, go-for-broke situation,” explained the driver of the No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle #rallycross. “This race doesn’t pay points, so it’s all about going for the win, especially when you have some of the top drivers out there competing for the trophy.”

The Nitro #rallycross #Event features a unique course layout designed by action-sports superstar Travis Pastrana, who will also compete this weekend. The track consists of several banked dirt corners and multiple joker lap options, including the intersection of a tunnel section, tabletop jump, and gap jump that could provide plenty of fireworks during race time.

The combination of exciting challenges for car and driver has also captured the imagination of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle #rallycross driver, Tanner Foust.

"Just looking at the track map, you can tell that this #Event is going to be insane," said Foust. "It's a different challenge to what we normally face, and I think it will provide something truly unexpected for drivers, teams, and fans alike."

Live coverage of Nitro #rallycross will air on Velocity and the Motor Trend app at 4:00 PM (ET) on Saturday, September 22 and at 4:30 PM (ET) on Sunday, September 23.
