Two races, two podiums: #garypaffett made a strong start to the season at the home race of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in Hockenheim

  • Gary Paffett (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport PETRONAS) secured another podium finish in Sunday's second race after his victory on Saturday – the 40th podium finish in his #DTM career
  • Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport PETRONAS) and Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport REMUS) also finished in the points in P6 and 9 respectively
  • Gary Paffett: “At the end of the day, third place is disappointing, but it was worth it. It was the best race I’ve ever driven in.”
  • Ulrich Fritz: “What Timo, Gary and Mike showed today was racing at its best.”

Spectacular end to the second race of the #DTM opening weekend at #Hockenheim: Scrapping all the way to the finish line, #garypaffett (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport PETRONAS) battled the eventual winner, BMW driver Timo Glock, and Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller for position. Gary, who had won the opening race at #Hockenheim on Saturday, started the race from 10th position but quickly moved up front and even led the race. After a thrilling finish, he booked P3 behind Glock and Rockenfeller, thus taking his second podium finish of the weekend, the 40th in his #DTM career and twelfth at the Hockenheimring.

Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport PETRONAS) started his second race following his return to the #DTM from eleventh place on the grid. The 2015 champion had gained five positions by the end, crossing the finish line in P6. Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport REMUS) in P9 also achieved a points-scoring finish in this second race.

Lucas Auer (SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG Motorsport) led for a time but fell back after being handed a five-second penalty for jumping the lights at the start and finished the race in P15. Daniel Juncadella (Mercedes-AMG Motorsport REMUS) took the chequered flag in P18. He also had to serve a five-second penalty for getting away too soon
