SEAT Vice-President for Production Dr. Tostmann, Honoured with the Eurostars Award

The #seat Vice-president for production Dr. #andreastostmann has been singled out by the prestigious publication Automotive News Europe for the Eurostars award in the Manufacturing Executive category in recognition of his professional career as a prominent executive among Europe’s car industry leaders for his excellent production management.

Dr. Tostmann, current #seat Vice-president for Production since 2011 in charge of the three company factories in Spain - #seat Martorell, #seat Barcelona and #seat Components -, who has also held several international positions within the Volkswagen Group, was given the award for his management and achievements in the production area.

He expressed his “gratitude and satisfaction for a recognition which is the result of dedicated team work, enabling #seat to increase production in the Martorell factory by 60% over the last 6 years by consistently improving the efficiency of our processes and the quality of our vehicles. Our goal is to continue our efforts and keep increasing our quality and productivity rates, in addition to environmental efficiency”, concluded the #seat Vice-president for Production.

During his leadership, the #seat factory in Martorell received the Lean award in 2013 and the Lean & Green Management award in 2015, which recognise the most efficient factory in the European automotive industry and management excellence, respectively. Likewise, this year the #seat Components factory was the recipient of the Industrial Excellence Award Spain. In the past year the company has invested over 17 million euros in improving its environmental performance and features an Ecomotive Factory Programme aimed at optimising the brand’s resources.

SEAT’s Martorell factory ranks first in Spain in terms of production. In 2015 #seat recorded its highest production volume since 2001, with a 7.8% growth figure, and closed the year with a total of 477,077 vehicles manufactured. The #seat Ibiza and Leon are manufactured there, as well as the Audi Q3, the only Premium vehicle made in Spain.

Career highlights

With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Dr. #andreastostmann joined Volkswagen in 1990, in the Group Product Planning area. From 1994 he was responsible for the Powertrain System Planning area at Volkswagen Mexico. He assumed responsibility for technical project planning and Powertrain System project management for the Volkswagen Group in 1995. In 1998 he became Production manager at the Volkswagen factory in Salzgitter (Germany) and was promoted to factory director three years later. In 2004 he became Managing Director of Volkswagen South Africa, holding this post until 2007, when he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen Slovakia. In this function, Dr. Tostmann also assumed responsibility for Production. He has been the #seat Executive Vice-president for Production since December 2011.
