Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

  • Fourth season of the ADAC #opel Rallye Cup starts on first weekend in March
  • International field competes in identical #opel #adam Cup cars
  • Two rounds during the ADAC Rallye Deutschland are highlight of the season

Rüsselsheim.  The ADAC #opel Rallye Cup is living up to its name as the biggest rally brand competition in Europe before the starts of its fourth season. Sixteen strong teams from seven countries including ten newcomers have registered for the opening round, the ADAC Saarland-Pfalz Rallye set to take place around St. Wendel, on March 4 and 5. Apart from two drivers, all of the competitors are also eligible for points and prize money in the separate junior category for drivers up to 27 years of age. The rally talents all compete in technically identical #opel #adam Cup rally cars.

Four of the nine German drivers competing this season have already gathered experience in the competition in the past: Sebastian von Gartzen, Kevin Müller, Niklas Stötefalke and Tim Wacker. Elsewhere, Johannes Dambach will make his Rallye Cup debut after winning the ADAC Rallye Masters last season. Philipp Hetz and Nino Weiland will also hit the ADAC #opel Rallye Cup stages for the first time. Thomas Knapp, last season co-pilot to his son Michael, has switched seats and will now take the steering wheel himself.

The Cup organized jointly by the ADAC and #opel has once again attracted talents from across Europe. Apart from three Nordic representatives, Pontus Ahman and Tom Kristensson from Sweden along with Jari Huttunen from Finland, the series will also welcome drivers from Ireland (Calvin Beattie), Italy (Nicola Sartor), Slovenia (Tim Novak) and the Czech Republic (Stefan David).

Apart from being lured by the chance of competing against some of the biggest talents in Europe with identical cars, the drivers are motivated by the chance of being promoted to the ADAC #opel Rallye Junior Team at the end of the season. Emil Bergkvist and Marijan Griebel who moved up through the ranks in 2013 and 2014 dominated the extremely competitive ERC Junior series in their works #opel #adam R2 last season, finishing first and third respectively. It was Opel’s first European championship win for 33 years.

The participants of the ADAC #opel Rallye Cup 2016 can look forward to eight demanding rounds during seven rallies. The highlight will once again been their start at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, where the #opel youngsters face two rounds in the course of the World Rallye Championship, with a crowd of 200,000 looking on.
