Antonelli is champion in ADAC F4. Camara wins rookie title, Prema triumphs among the teams

  • With a one-two at the Nurburgring the Italian driver wins the ADAC Formel 4 title
  • Rafael Camara overtakes Joutsimies in the last race of the season and wins the rookie title
  • Prema #racing is team champion in the German series for the third time.

It is an ADAC Formel 4 that speaks Italian in 2022. #andreakimiantonelli (ITA - #Prema Racing) won the first two races on the Nurburgring circuit and became champion with one race to spare, while his team-mate, #rafaelcamara (BRA - #Prema Racing), the Ferrari Driver Academy driver, made a comeback over the Finn Rasmus Joutsimies (FIN - Jenzer Motorsport) and took the rookie title. Thanks to the performances of Antonelli and Camara, but also of their team-mates James Wharton (AUS - #Prema Racing) and Ugo Ugochukwu (USA - #Prema Racing), it is the Italian #Prema team that wins the team title for the third time in eight seasons. Antonelli ended his season with nine wins and three second places, proving that he has fully deserved the 2022 title, succeeding Britain's Oliver Bearman. "Absolutely incredible! - were the first words of 2002 ADAC Formel 4 champion #andreakimiantonelli - It's a fantastic feeling to be ADAC Formula 4 champion. When I crossed the finish line, I shouted on the radio and couldn't contain my joy. It was an emotional moment. Now I can enjoy the success”.

On the Nurburgring track, in difficult weather conditions with a wet track in the first two races, it was #andreakimiantonelli who put everyone behind him in the series running with the Tatuus F4 T421s powered by the 180 hp #Abarth T-Jet 1.4 engine. In race 1, the driver from Bologna, won in an all #Prema #racing podium ahead of the two Ferrari Driver Academy drivers #rafaelcamara and James Wharton, while in race 2, his direct championship rival Taylor Barnard (GBR - PHM Racing) and Ugo Ugochukwu, first among the rookies, climbed onto the podium. In race 3, on a dry track, Taylor Barnard won his fifth race of the season after a good battle with Ugochukwu. Behind them the fight for the podium was very close and, in the end, it was #rafaelcamara who got the better of them and took third place, which is worth the rookie title.

ADAC F4 Overall Standings: 1. #andreakimiantonelli (ITA – #Prema Racing) 313; 2. Taylor Barnard (GBR – PHM Racing) 266; 3. #rafaelcamara (BRA – #Prema Racing) 193; 4. Nikita Bedrin (ITA – PHM Racing) 175; 5. James Wharton (AUS – #Prema Racing) 146.
