Opel Mokka-e in Winter: With Maximum Efficiency and Comfort

Rüsselsheim.  As the daylight hours get shorter, the temperature drops and autumn becomes winter, it is important that battery electric vehicles are operated with maximum efficiency. With the eye-catching Opel Mokka-e, driver and passengers not only travel locally emissions-free, they can keep energy consumption low and the range high thanks to various on-board heating systems and technologies.

Heat pump and app make (pre)heating easy

The first steps towards maximum efficiency are even taken before the start of the journey. #opel #mokkae drivers simply switch on the pre-temperature control while the car is connected to the external power supply via a household socket, a wallbox or a fast charger. This way, the energy required for heating comes from the external power supply and the full electric range of up to 338 kilometres (according to WLTP¹) is available at the start. Thanks to the heat pump fitted as standard, the heat generated is used to warm up the interior without having to switch on conventional heating, which would compromise range.

In addition, #opel #mokkae owners can use the myOpel app to remotely programme the pre-heating of the interior from the comfort of their couch before setting off. Within a few minutes, the cabin reaches a comfortable temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius and the windows are ice-free.

Recuperative braking system generates energy

In addition to the physical warmth provided by the #opel #mokkae, there is also the feeling of driving with responsibility and efficiency – especially while slowing down and in descents. The electric motor becomes a generator and converts the kinetic energy of deceleration into electricity. If the driver shifts into drive mode B, the effects are increased. The 50-kWh battery is recharged at zero cost – and energy saved for the next stage of the journey. The #mokkae also offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport – by selecting the Eco mode, the driver can prioritise driving range over performance.

As an additional safety benefit, agility and road holding are further enhanced in tricky winter conditions thanks to the battery’s integration in the underbody, which lowers the centre of gravity.

With these technologies on-board, #opel #mokkae drivers and passengers can set off on winter journeys comfortably, with maximum efficiency and locally emissions-free. And when it is time to recharge, all #mokkae customers benefit from the standard 100 kW DC fast charging capability: only 12 minutes of charging at a 100-kW public charging station adds 100 kilometres of driving range.
