Rüsselsheim.  A family holiday without the dog? No way! When there is fun to be had, Chester and Othello come too; and not only on “World Dog Day” (October 10). But what is the best vehicle for heading to the hills (or the beach) with the children and a whole pack of hounds? Meet the Opel Zafira-e Life, the “e-lounge on wheels” ideal for those who not only need loads of space for family plus pets, but who also want to travel locally emissions-free. Available in two lengths, the all-electric #opel MPV combines responsibility with high comfort and flexibility – whether you have two legs or four.

Living is easy in the #zafiraelife – for dogs too

The #opel #zafiraelife has room for everyone and even a few Rhodesian Ridgebacks, thanks to the 2.76-metre wheelbase and up to 4.9 cubic metres of luggage space. To get in the back, dogs do not even need to jump – the load sill is only 65 centimetres above the ground. Entering and exiting for the pets is almost as easy as for their owners, who get into the second-row seats via the electric sliding doors.

As the approachable German brand, #opel offers practical original accessories to make travelling in the #zafiraelife as enjoyable as possible for every man, woman and four-legged friend. If they do not go into a box, dogs can lie down comfortably on the soft mat on the floor of the boot. The robust surface of the mat also provides protection from dirt and scratches. The same goes for the load-sill mats, in case claws come into contact with the edge when dogs jump into the boot. The German carmaker has a special rear-seat blanket if the canine travels in the passenger compartment. The blanket attaches to the rear-seat head restraints; it can be washed after use and packed away in its own bag. Portable air-fresheners are also available in case the pack starts the return journey dirty, damp and correspondingly “fragrant”.

With the dogs inside the #opel #zafiraelife, the luggage can be carried on the roof or at the rear. #opel offers a variety of flexible transport systems – such as roof boxes, ski/snowboard and bike carriers from Thule – for carrying bags or equipment separately from the van’s occupants. Trailers (maximum towing capacity: 1,000 kilograms) can be attached to the removable tow-hook if even more space is needed.

Advanced technologies and driver assistance systems

Opel has a long-standing reputation for democratising innovations; accordingly the #zafiraelife features advanced driver assistance systems so that dogs and their owners can travel in safety. A camera and radar monitor the area in front of the vehicle. Semi-adaptive cruise control adjusts the speed to that of the vehicle in front. Drowsiness alert reminds drivers to take a break (and take the dogs out to stretch their legs too). The colour head-up display shows speed, distance to the preceding vehicle and navigation. The rear-view camera offers 180-degree visibility with bird’s eye view.

The Multimedia Navi infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android #auto. Thanks to “OpelConnect”, the navigation system includes real time traffic information for the latest status on the way to the next “doggy-break”.

E for electric and locally emissions-free travel

With 100 kW of power (136 hp) and 260 Nm of maximum torque from the electric propulsion system, the #opel Zafira‑e Life offers lively performance – even when packed with people and pets. The electronically controlled maximum speed of 130 km/h enables autobahn cruising.

Customers can choose between two sizes of lithium-ion battery, depending on their needs: with 75 kWh and a range of up to 322 kilometres or with 50 kWh and a range of up to 224 km, both in the WLTP1 cycle.

Charging the #opel MPV is as easy as using it. Every #zafiraelife is ready for a variety of charging options; via wall box, fast charging or even a cable for charging from a domestic plug socket if necessary. The offer of cables and wall boxes varies according to the energy infrastructure, ensuring that #zafiraelife customers can find and make use of a charging station almost anywhere. Using 100 kW of direct current (DC), it takes around only 32 minutes for the 50-kWh battery to reach 80 per cent state-of-charge (about 48 minutes for the 75-kWh battery).

[1] Range determined according to WLTP test procedure methodology (R (EC) No. 715/2007, R (EU) No. 2017/1151). The actual range can vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular on personal driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning and thermal preconditioning.
