Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Oettl on the WorldSSP podium at Assen! Seventh for Oncu

The Superpole and first race of the fourth Supersport World Championship round played out today at the Assen TT Circuit.
Yesterday saw the two #kawasakipuccettiracing riders hard at work during the two practice sessions, #philippoettl finished fourth (1'37"985) and Can Oncu seventh (1'38"265).
Today, in cool but sunny conditions, Oettl put in a very strong performance during the Superpole. The German rider improved on his best lap of yesterday (1'37"579) to close third. Oncu was unfortunately unable to lower his time any further (1'38"605) and finished the session in twelfth place.
Based on the Superpole results, Oettl lined up on the front row of the grid and Oncu from the fourth for the afternoon's 18-lap race.
Philipp got away very well when the lights went out and immediately moved into the lead. Over subsequent laps, Oettl remained part of the leading group, comprised of three riders in all. The trio battled for positions, but the group then separated, with Oettl crossing the line third to score his fourth podium of the season. Oncu also ran a strong race. The Turk immediately made up three positions at the start, before increasing his pace and climbing as far as fourth place, part of the chasing group. In the final stages, Can suffered from a drop in tyre performance and crossed the line in seventh place, confirming both his determination and his continuous growth.
Tomorrow will see the #kawasakipuccettiracing riders compete in the second race of this fourth Supersport World Championship round.

"The race was good so thanks to the team - and the bike! I enjoyed the race and we made a good step. My arm had a little pain. You can see in the first ten laps I was in the front group, but eventually during the changes of direction in the fast corners I was struggling and I had some more pain. But we moved in a good direction today and I think tomorrow we can do much better. I want to say thank you to all the team who is working and supporting us. After a long break and no riding on my 600 we did a good job, I think."

"It was a really nice race. I had a good start and I led for a few sectors which was a good thing to do. I chose the SCX tyre for the race because I knew I had to stay with the first two guys in the beginning and my hope was that they would pull me away from the main chasing group. That is what happened and I was really happy with today because we maximised our package. The team did an outstanding job all weekend long and I am happy for what we achieved today. Our qualifying was really good, and overall it has been a good Friday and Saturday."
