Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Mahias seventh in WorldSBK practice at Assen


he fifth round of the Superbike World Championship got underway today at Assen's Van Drenthe circuit, better known as the TT Circuit, in The Netherlands. At the last Donington Park round, #kawasakipuccettiracing rider #lucasmahias scored his best result of the season so far, confirming the constant progress he has made throughout this first part of the season. Both rider and team now aim to continue on this growth path at Assen.
This morning Mahias was on track for the first free practice and was soon able to exploit the potential of his Ninja ZX-10R, prepared by the #kawasakipuccettiracing technicians. With a time of 1'35"279, the Frenchman finished ninth.
In the afternoon, Mahias headed back out for the second practice, but suffered a crash early on in the session. His bike was damaged but the #kawasakipuccettiracing technicians were able to get it fixed before the end of FP2. Once back on track, Mahias pushed to the max, making the most of the remaining time and setting a 1'34"771, which was not only an improvement on his morning's reference but also meant he rounded out practice a strong seventh overall.
Tomorrow will see Lucas take part in the Superpole followed by the first of the weekend's races.

"Our first day here at Assen has definitely been a positive one, both because I finished seventh and because I immediately found good feeling with my bike. Unfortunately, I crashed in the early stages of FP2 while carrying out a race simulation and so we'll need to work on that tomorrow in FP3 so that we're ready for the race. A big thank-you to my team for repairing my bike so well after the crash".
