Facts & figures from #silverstone: The focus of interest going into last weekend’s British Grand Prix was the completely new format, featuring a first ever F1 sprint qualifying race. Although Lewis Hamilton booked the prime spot on the grid in Friday’s contest, it was to be Max Verstappen’s name that will be remembered as winner of the first sprint race in F1 history on Saturday evening. Lewis and Valtteri Bottas finished second and third respectively. On Sunday, Lewis registered his eighth win in the British GP in front of a capacity crowd at #silverstone. He was joined on the podium by Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc in the runner-up spot and Valtteri in third. The next #Event on the 2021 race calendar is to be hosted by the Hungaroring on the outskirts of Budapest on the weekend of 30 July ‑ 1 August. It is also the last race before the summer break.

London calling: #themercedeseqformulaeteam is meanwhile preparing for the penultimate double-header of the season this coming weekend, as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to #London after a five-year absence. For Mercedes, the occasion constitutes one of the team’s two home races and is one more major metropolis to tick off. However, all of the drivers and teams are entering uncharted territory with a new circuit that weaves its way around and through the ExCeL exhibition centre in the UK capital. The 2.252 km circuit comprises no fewer than 22 corners and poses a number of unique challenges, especially in terms of reduced energy management. Don’t miss any of the action this weekend, and follow the team on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Or, head here to find out how to watch all sessions live in your region.

First win of the season in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge: In the two-hour race at Lime Rock Park, Eric Foss and Jeff Mosing (both USA) driving the number 56 Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Murillo #racing ran out winners in the GS class race. It was a first win of the season for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. The Lime Rock Park circuit in Connecticut seems to suit the Mercedes-AMG GT4, as it is the third year in succession that an Affalterbach-built car has taken the honours there. At one point in the race, the four leading cars were all Mercedes-AMG GT4s. Foss and Mosing’s success was in major part due to a masterstroke during the pit stop. Unlike most of their opponents, Murillo #racing decided to make a second tyre change but only swapped two of the four, thereby saving valuable time. The number 56 car Eventually crossed the finish a full nine seconds ahead of the field.

Class victory in endurance #Event: Team Balpol by SPS #automotive performance made it onto the podium in the Aurum 1006 Kilometres Powered by Hankook. After completing 352 laps of the track in the Lithuanian city of Palanga, Nemunas Dagilis, Nerijus Dagilis and Deividas Jocius (all LTU) driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 finished overall second, a result that was enough for them also to claim the GT3 class win.
