FIA ADAC F4 Championship powered by Abarth, the race for the title is on: a win for the American Jak Crawford at the Lausitzring circuit, hot on the heels of the leader, Jonny Edgar

• In the penultimate round of the German F4 championship, victories for Russia’s Lomko, Crawford and the Frenchman Bernier.
• The championship will be decided next weekend at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany, with Crawford (US) and Edgar (UK) in the running. 

The battle for victory is on in the #fiaadacf4championship powered by #abarth. The penultimate #event of the season has seen successes for Russia’s #vladislavlomko (US Racing), the American #jakcrawford (Van Amersfoort Racing) and the Frenchman #victorbernier (R-ace GP). With this victory, the American has shortened his distance from the leader in the rankings and has made it possible to make up the difference in the final weekend of #racing. The Briton Jonny Edgar (Van Amersfoort Racing) will take on the final race 23 points ahead of Crawford: a major advantage, but not a guarantee of winning the title. 

The first race took place in the rain and Lomko immediately managed to surprise the poleman Elias Seppänen (US Racing), taking the lead in the race right up to the checkered flag: “That was a pretty tough race, and there were quite a few surprises,” said race winner Lomko. “I don't think I could have improved on anything. I really enjoyed it.” 

The battle for second place saw the Frenchman #victorbernier overtaking Seppänen, with the German Joshua Dürksen (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) coming in fourth. 

Sparks flew between Edgar and Crawford in Race2, who crashed into each other in the early stages. The American won out to take the lead, while the Briton had to make a comeback from last place, managing to finish in seventh. 

“It was a very important victory for me, especially with next weekend coming,” said Crawford, “because you can never know what’s going to happen.” 

A seventh placing in Race2 meant Edgar could start the third and last race – also packed with thrills and spills – in the first row. At the start, with a wet track, he was unable to take advantage of his pole position. At the first corner, he found himself in fourth, behind Bernier, the Briton Oliver Bearman (US Racing) and Dürksen. Mid-race Edgar went off the track but managed to pull himself back in behind Crawford, who then became involved in Bearman’s accident and was forced to withdraw. In the end, Germany’s Tim Tramnitz (US Racing) managed to come in second, with Edgar receiving points for his fourth place. 

At the end of the race, Edgar had words of encouragement for his rival: “It was very unfortunate for him, but was good for my championship hopes. At Oschersleben, I won't have to fight too hard. As long as I finish ahead of Jak or not far behind him, I should be able to manage it.” 

The winner will be crowned at the final round, at the Oschersleben circuit next weekend.
