COLOGNE, Germany, Oct. 9, 2020 – Mustang Mach-E customers will receive all the equipment and support they need for a seamless, stress-free and confidence-inspiring all-electric vehicle ownership experience.

Ford today announced partnerships for #Ford Connected Wallbox installation services with six companies covering 14 markets across Europe, to deliver simple, cost-effective charging solutions at home.

Included with the Mustang Mach-E as standard will be charging cables to support drivers wherever their journeys take them.

The company also recently announced Mustang Mach-E customers placing an order this year and into 2021 will receive five years of free access 1 to the leading FordPass Charging Network, and one year of free access 1 to the IONITY fast-charging network.

“Instilling confidence is the key to encouraging greater numbers of drivers to discover the benefits of electrification,” said #stuartrowley, president, #Ford of Europe. “Ford is providing a complete infrastructure to make owning our Mustang Mach-E effortless; from free access to a leading pan-European charging network, to the right cable for charging at home, right the way down to the gloves to keep that cable clean.”

Ford announced further details of the Mustang Mach-E ownership experience at the company’s Go Electric consumer experience in Hamburg, Germany, delivering hands-on, engaging activities to help de-mystify electrification and inspire confidence in consumers about the different types of electrified powertrains available and their benefits.

Keeping owners in charge

Ford is offering its all-electric and plug-in hybrid customers an optional #Ford Connected Wallbox to make charging from home faster, smarter and more convenient. The wallboxes will be installed by Alpiq in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy; Centrica in the UK and Ireland; DEFA in Norway and Sweden; Eneco in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg; ETRA in Spain and Portugal; and by Zeborne in France.

Available in 7.4 kW and 11 kW versions, the wall-mounted charger is capable of topping up the Mustang Mach-E battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 6 hours. 2

Owners can remotely monitor and control the #Ford Connected Wallbox from their smartphone using the FordPass smartphone app, 3 enabling them to check on current charge, energy used, and even remotely enable family or friends to use the charger. The wallboxes are weather-proofed for outdoor installation, and are equipped with an integrated 7.5-metre cable.

Mustang Mach-E customers will also receive as standard two charging cables to keep them driving wherever their journey leads.

The FordPublic Charge Cable is compatible with the common charging standard in Europe, enabling customers to easily connect to AC chargers while at work or to top up their batteries while shopping or watching a movie in town. At 6 metres long, the cable helps ensure convenient charging is never out of reach. 4

A Universal Home Charge Cord with a total length of 6.7 metres is also provided, enabling connection to standard domestic and 32 A blue industrial sockets for higher speed charging even without a #Ford Connected Wallbox. Appropriate adapters will be provided for use in the customer’s home market, and additional adapters for travelling will also be available.

Ford is offering peace of mind to Mustang Mach-E customers with access to more than 155,000 FordPass Charging Network charge stations across Europe. Delivered in partnership with NewMotion, the FordPass Charging Network is the largest network of public charging stations in the region. Customers will be able to use the FordPass app to effortlessly locate, navigate to, pay for and monitor charging at locations across 21 countries – initiating and paying for services from a single account. 3

Ford is also a founder member and shareholder in the IONITY consortium that has now established more than 270 high-power charging stations along motorway routes and at key European locations, en route to a targeted 400 by the end of this year.

Charging with up to 150 kW at an IONITY station, Mustang Mach-E in extended-range battery, rear-wheel drive configuration is estimated to add an average of 119 km (73 miles) driving range within approximately 10 minutes of charging. 5

Modes to suit your mood

Mustang Mach-E offers three unique drive modes to fully exploit the refined and responsive all-electric Mustang Mach-E driving experience. Whisper, Active and Untamed Drive Modes are each designed to immerse the driver in the moment by altering what they see, hear and feel from behind the wheel.

Active mode balances the quiet serenity of an all-electric vehicle with fun-to-drive, thrilling Mustang performance, making it the perfect choice for the everyday drive. Soft blue lighting infuses the cabin while the dynamic cluster displays an EcoMode to help maximise energy efficiency.

When drivers really want to amp up the excitement they can switch to Untamed. This unleashes the full potential of the Mustang Mach-E; sharpening the steering, enhancing the throttle response and even giving the driver the feel of downshifting on deceleration. Matched to the performance is a boosted interior sound, sporty orange lighting, and dynamic sense lines on the driver display that reflect the acceleration and cornering forces being experienced.

Activating lighter steering controls, a gentler accelerator response and the quietest ambience inside the cockpit, Whisper mode is the most relaxing way to enjoy Mustang Mach-E.

Whisper mode also optimises Brake Traction Control 6 that helps maintain grip on wet and slippery surfaces, to make driving even less demanding. As with Active mode, a Low Gear function can also be selected for greater control of the vehicle speed without overuse of the brakes when negotiating steep downward inclines or towing.

“Mustang Mach-E gave us the opportunity to really tailor the driving experience and give the driver exactly what they want from their vehicle depending on how they feel that day. The vehicle becomes a companion that responds to you,” said #matthiastonn, Mustang Mach-E chief programme engineer for Europe. “Individual changes between each Drive Mode are subtle, but the overall effect can transform the driving experience in Mustang, exactly when you want it to.”

Mustang Mach-E also delivers 1 Pedal Drive capability in each Drive Mode. Acceleration and deceleration are controlled through pressing or lifting-off the accelerator pedal respectively – for the authentic all-electric driving experience. The brake pedal still remains active for situations where greater braking power is required.

The all-electric Mustang Mach-E has a targeted WLTP pure-electric driving range of up to 610 km (379 miles), 7 and will be in European dealerships from early next year.

1 Requires feature activation.

2 7.4 kW version of the #Ford Connected Wallbox can charge a Mustang Mach-E with a standard-range battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 8 hours, or in approximately 10 hours with an extended-range battery; 11 kW version can charge a Mustang Mach-E with a standard-range battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 6 hours, or in approximately 7 hours with an extended-range battery.

3 Requires feature activation. FordPass App, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available via a download. Message and data rates may apply.

4 FordPublic Charge Cable (Mode 3) supports AC charging equipment that uses Type 2 outlets.

5 Targeted range and charge time based on manufacturer tested values and calculation according to the WLTP drive cycle. Estimated miles added are based on the first 10 minutes of charging, beginning when the vehicle begins receiving charge. Officially homologated energy efficiency figures will be published closer to on-sale date. The charging rate decreases as battery reaches full capacity. Your results may vary based on peak charging times and battery state of charge. Actual vehicle range varies with conditions such as external elements, driving behaviours, vehicle maintenance, and lithium-ion battery age and state of health.

6 Driver-assist features are supplemental to and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgement and need to control the vehicle.

7 Officially homologated energy efficiency figures will be published closer to on-sale date. The declared fuel/energy consumptions, CO2-emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. Light Duty Vehicle type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) will have fuel/energy consumption and CO2-emission information for New European Drive Cycle (NEDC) and WLTP. WLTP will fully replace the NEDC latest by the end of the year 2020. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. During NEDC phase-out, WLTP fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are being correlated back to NEDC. There will be some variance to the previous fuel economy and emissions as some elements of the tests have altered, so the same car might have different fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
