Tim Gajser wins the MXGP class and consolidates his lead in the championship. Jago Geerts owns MX2 while Tom Vialle remains at the top in the standings.
Mantova (Italy) October 4th, 2020 – The Grand Prix of Europe, the eleventh round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship, closed the series of three consecutive races hosted by the Mantova’ ‘Tazio Nuvolari’ circuit over the last eight days. Once again, the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and the SCORPION MX™ Soft rear tires were chosen by Pirelli riders to best face the sandy and hard surface of the Italian track. This time they combined their choice with a medium-hard mousse to deal with the degradation of the track during the event.
In the MXGP class overall victory belonged to reigning champion Tim Gajser who also marginally increased his advantage in the championship. Antonio Cairoli finished second after winning the second moto. There were good performances also by Jeremy Seewer who was fourth overall and is still third in the standings, and Mitchell Evans in fifth.
Jago Geerts and Tom Vialle closed the MX2 category with the same score but the Belgian earned the overall by winning race two. Vialle, second, kept the red plate. The winner of the last two rounds Thomas Kjer Olsen took the third step of the podium just in front of Ben Watson.
Pirelli also excelled in the seventh round of the EMX250 European Championship thanks to the second place of Jorgen-Matthias Talviku and the third position registered by Hakon Fredriksen. Thibault Benistant kept the red plate. There was a good third place for Max Palsson in the fourth round of EMX125 while Pietro Razzini confirmed second in the championship standings.
Next weekend the riders will tackle round twelve, the Grand Prix of Spain, which will be held at Intu Xanadù-Arroyomolinos and a brand new venue located thirty kilometres south of Madrid.
