Third event in the FIA ERC for the Abarth 124 rally at the Rally Fafe Montelongo, Portugal. The Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth takes to the stage at Mugello (ITA)

A double challenge on the track this weekend for Abarth’s drivers, at the ERC and the #italianf4championship.

Portugal hosts the Rally Fafe #Montelongo, the first time it has been included in the schedule of the #fiaerc European Rally Championship. At the same time, the young drivers of the #italianf4championship powered by #Abarth will be competing in the fourth heat of the Italian series at the #Mugello Circuit.

The Rally Fafe #Montelongo is the third race in the #Abarth Rally Cup, the schedule of which has been restored to 6 races by the addition of the “Spa Rally” to the Events of the ERC. With its midwinter scheduling, the Spa Rally returns rally #racing to that intrepid dimension that only a race that time of year can bring: the same wintry setting that resulted in Walter Röhrl’s historic victory in the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally with the Fiat 131 #Abarth Rally

The Rally Fafe #Montelongo, part of the Portuguese Rally Championship and the North Rally Championship, is characterized by an undulating course on tarmac, alternating fast curves with narrow hairpin bends on a smooth surface. A perfect fit for the features of the 124 rally, boasting an excellent balance as well as its ability to easily and quickly adapt to the track requirements: fast in the smoother and better balanced sections, then highly effective in the slower, more technical parts of the course. The course is 527 km long, 183 km of which are time trials, spread over 18 special stages.

The #Event is based in Fafe, a small town with a great rallying tradition. The schedule includes a qualifying session on Friday, October 2nd at 4 pm. The first stage takes place on Saturday, starting at 8:30 am and finishing at 6:45 pm. The second will be on Sunday, setting off at 8:30 am and ending at 6:30 pm.

At the same time, the #Mugello Circuit hosts the fourth round in the #italianf4championship powered by #Abarth season, with around 30 young drivers at the starting line, 5 of whom are making their debut, including Lorenzo Patrese, the son of Riccardo, a former F1 driver.

After the first three heats, the overall championship standings have two Italian drivers, #gabrielemini and #francescopizzi, in the top two, followed by the Briton #jonnyedgar and the American #jakcrawford. Of the 9 races contested so far (3 at each Event), Minì has won 2, Italy's Andrea Rosso 2, with Pizzi, Edgar, Crawford, Romania’s Filip Ugran and Germany's Joshua Dürksen all winning one each.

The schedule for the weekend in Tuscany includes two qualifying sessions, on Saturday, October 3rd at 9:30 am. Race1 will be held that afternoon, at 3:25 pm. Sunday, Race2 is at 11.40 am, with Race3 at 4.40 pm. Live streaming on acisport.it.
