POSITIVE DAY FOR PIRELLI AT THE MOTOCROSS GRAND PRIX ‘CITTA’ DI MANTOVA’

Jorge Prado wins a moto and finishes second in MXGP while the red plate remains in Tim Gajser hands. Thomas Kjer Olsen is victorious again in MX2 as Tom Vialle increases his lead in the standings.

Mantova (Italy) September 30th, 2020 – The ‘Tazio Nuvolari’ circuit hosted the Grand Prix of Città di Mantova, for the second race of the triple header and tenth round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship. To tackle the sandy and hard terrain of the Italian track, Pirelli riders again trusted the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and SCORPION MX™ Soft rear tires in the various sizes available. The medium-soft mousses helped the riders deal with some big jump landings and many tough ruts. The Italian brand fill the top four positions in MXGP class championship standings and the top seven in MX2.

 

Jorge Prado took second place overall after winning the first moto. Tim Gajser finished the racing day on equal points with Antonio Cairoli but climbed to the third step of the podium thanks to a best position obtained in race two. A couple of mistakes in the second moto prevented Jeremy Seewer from rising higher than fifth ahead of Gautier Paulin in sixth.

 

Thomas Kjer Olsen celebrated back-to-back victories in the MX2 class. Tom Vialle posted a good second position and again extended his lead in the championship. Roan Van De Moosdijk finished third completing an overall podium once more dominated by PirelliMaxime Renaux was second in the first moto but was forced into a comeback ride in the second and was fourth overall.

 

There was an excellent second position for Hakon Fredriksen in the sixth round of the EMX250 European Championship. Thibault Benistant, fourth, kept the red plate.

 

Thanks to second place in the fourth round of the WMX Women's World Championship, Nancy Van de Ven has risen to the top of the championship standings for the first time and with just one round left in the series.

 

Next Sunday the Grand Prix of Europe, the eleventh round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship, will close the triple header held at Mantova.
