Contrary to the original calendar, modified as a result of the spread of Covid-19, the 2020 season sees the Superbike and Supersport world championships take on a double-header #event at #motorlandaragon in Spain. This means that teams remain at the Spanish track, located just a few kilometres from the town of Alcaniz, for round 5 of the series, officially known as the Pirelli Teruel Round.
Less than a week ago, the #kawasakipuccettiracing riders completed round 4 of the championship at the very same track. In Saturday's Supersport race, Philipp Oettl earned his second podium of the season (the fourth of the season for Manuel Puccetti's team), crossing the line third, while Lucas Mahias finished fifth. Sunday's race saw the Frenchman close in fourth place, just ahead of his team-mate.
In Superbike race 1, Xavi Fores scored eighth place, his best result of the season thus far. Twelfth in the Superpole race, the Spaniard then finished eleventh in race 2. Aside from the results themselves, Fores has made a significant step forward in terms of competitiveness, both his own and that of the bike. In Sunday's race Xavi proved very fast and battled long and hard in a group made up of factory riders. Being able to compete at the same track again this weekend and having a good base and solid data collected from the three previous races will surely benefit both Fores and his team.
