Track record and provisional pole for Andrea Locatelli on the first day of practice at Mugello

The first weekend of the 2020 #civ opened today on the Mugello circuit with the BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team and #andrealocatelli immediately protagonists as wild cards. The only free practice session available and the first qualifying session smiled at the rider from Bergamo, able to close both sessions in the lead.

The morning's free practice session, held on a dry track, served the team to continue the work begun on the test day at Misano, especially with regard to the clutch set-up. The results of the effort put in didn't take long as Locatelli closed the session ahead of everyone with an incredible time of 1'53"353, setting a new track record for the category.

In the afternoon, the time came for the first qualifying session, conditioned by a heavy downpour that hit the Tuscan track in the minutes before the start of the session. For Locatelli was his first ever session in the wet with the YZF-R6 of the team, but this did not undermine his confidence. He was able to take provisional pole thanks to a time of 2'12"390.

The appointment is now at 11.00 tomorrow morning, when the second qualifying session will take place to set the starting grid, while in the afternoon (14.55) it will be the time for the first race of the weekend. The race will be broadcast live on Sky Sport MotoGP (channel 208), streaming on Elevensports.it and on the #civ and Motosprint Facebook pages.

Andrea Locatelli: "This morning we started in the right way, doing some tests in line with our weekend goal, which is to prepare us in the best possible way for the recovery of the World Supersport Championship. The afternoon qualifying session was the first opportunity to test the bike in the wet, and the first feelings were undoubtedly positive. It's always a pleasure to ride at Mugello, the climate in the garage is very positive and this allows us to work at our best for the future".
