BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team on track at Mugello as wild card for the first round of CIV 2020

One last important test before start getting serious again. The BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team and its rider #andrealocatelli will be on track this weekend (3-4-5 July 2020) at the Mugello International Circuit to compete in the first round of the CIV 2020 season.

Facing a race weekend always gives useful information in view of the future, and for this reason the team will be on stage in the Tuscan hills: Locatelli will go on track with his Yamaha YZF-R6 in WorldSSP configuration as a wild card, and for these reasons he won't take points valid for the championship.

For the Ravenna-based structure it will be a small return to the past, as the last appearance in a CIV race as a wild card dates back to the 2015 season, while the last full season dates back to the previous year, where, among other things, he won the title in the Supersport class. Apart from this, the Mugello weekend will be useful to really get back to work with the intense pace of a race weekend, where the time is always among the first variables to take into account.

The Italian appointment will be a journey through time also for #andrealocatelli, who can boast good memories of the CIV: the rider from Bergamo can boast in his palmares the Italian title won in 2013 in the Moto3 class. Locatelli has been through the difficult ups and downs at Mugello in recent seasons in Moto2, and this weekend will be an opportunity to do so for the first time with his new team and his new travel partner.

The action on the track will start on Thursday with the first free practice sessions, while from Friday it will start getting serious with the last free practice session followed by the first qualifying session. Saturday will be the time for the second qualifying session and especially the first race, while race 2 on Sunday will close the program.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "We decided to use the bike in WorldSSP configuration because this choice is in line with our aim, which is to do a three-day test in order to prepare for the second race of the season at Jerez. As a team we haven't raced at Mugello for many years and certainly coming back to this track will be useful in any case. I would like to thank the FMI for the invitation, it will be an honour to race again in the CIV".

Andrea Locatelli: "I am very excited that this will be our first post-quarantine race weekend and the fact that we are #racing at Mugello makes it even more interesting. #racing on this track for the first time with Yamaha will be really exciting: apart from that, it will be an opportunity to continue the work done during the test day at Misano, using all the time available to us. There are some aspects to be clarified as far as the set up is concerned, and I am sure that this weekend we will have some answers to our questions. Going back to CIV will be strange, it will be a bit like going back to school for a day: unfortunately there won't be an audience, but it will still be a great experience".
