Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Official two-day test concludes at Phillip Island

On track at Phillip Island in Australia, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has concluded the official two-day test that precedes the opening round of the Superbike and Supersport world championships.
Following on from the work completed during winter testing, these additional two days have proved very useful in terms of refining the set-up of the Supersport bikes of Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl and the Superbike of Xavi Forés.
On day one, progress was only hindered by rain during the second Superbike session.
Mahias concluded the Supersport sessions fifth with a time of 1'33"896, recorded during the morning's session, while Oettl closed in eighth position thanks to a best of 1'34"543, also set during the morning.
Over in Superbike, Xavi Forés placed thirteenth, stopping the clock on 1'32"414 during the first of the day's sessions.
Today's work began under cloudy skies on a track still damp following rain overnight. Forés, like most of the field, preferred to wait for the track to dry before heading out. The Spaniard was able to improve on yesterday's references to finish fifteenth with a 1'32"312. During the final session, Xavi continued to make progress as he works to adapt to his new Ninja, scoring the tenth fastest time of the day (1'31"653).
In Supersport, Mahias and Oettl continued to work on set-up in preparation for the race weekend. The German rider (1'34"253) concluded in seventh place, while Mahias (1'34"390) positioned ninth. During the second and final session of the 600 class, Oettl was able to improve further, his time of 1'33"827 placing him sixth in the combined two-day results. Rather than focusing too much on lap times, Mahias preferred to focus on bike set-up in view of Sunday's race, concluding the tests in ninth place overall.
The tests now complete, Manuel Puccetti's team and riders will have a short break before returning to the track for the first round of the 2020 Superbike and Supersport world championships.

Xavi Forés: "We have completed a great deal of work. My feeling with the bike isn't yet 100%, but over the two days I've finally been able to put together a good number of laps with my Ninja, something I hadn't yet been able to do. I like this track and have always been strong here, and so over the two days I've tried to adapt my riding style to the bike while also modifying the set-up to suit my needs. Although we're not particularly interested in the lap times, I was nevertheless able to improve but, more importantly, the team and I have identified a good base on which to build this coming race weekend".
.

Lucas Mahias: "We've got a lot done. I'm not totally satisfied with the results and we know we still have work to do, but the overall impression is positive. We've worked hard to test various components, to the detriment of lap times, but it was very important to find a base set-up from which to start, so that we're in the best possible condition for the weekend's racing".
.

Philipp Oettl: "Two very useful and important days. We've worked hard on the bike, very different to ride around this track than the Moto2 I've ridden previously. We initially focused on the front end while today we worked on tyre grip and wear. We were able to test all the available tyres, and in this afternoon's last session I was able to improve on my lap time. I feel prepared for the first race weekend of the season".
