The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2020, now in its seventh edition with METZELER tyres, has successfully concluded

Since its debut in 2008, BMW Motorrad has relied exclusively on METZELER to equip the GS Trophy bikes, an event highly anticipated by enthusiasts from all over the world

Munich, 20 February 2020 - METZELER has once again been chosen as the sole tyre supplier for the legendary BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy, the raid organised every two years by the Bavarian company to have their customers test the off-road skills of their bikes who have shown excellent riding skills by exceeding the selections provided. Since its first edition in Tunisia in 2008, METZELER has been the only tyre brand alongside BMW Motorrad as a technical partner to equip the motorcycles that are the protagonists of the coveted amateur trophy.

The tyre chosen to face this challenge was the METZELER KAROO™ 3, a specific product for on-off enduro that guarantees all those riders who love travel, medium and long haul, high mileage, excellent off road grip, excellent stability and handling. METZELER KAROO™ 3 proved to be the most suitable choice to overcome the tough tests foreseen by the trophy.

The 2020 edition of the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy took place in New Zealand from 9th to 16th February. Starting from Lake Okataina, located in the North Island of the country, and after covering over 2,650 kilometres on an extremely severe route during eight days of competition, the event ended on 16th February in Queenstown, in the South Island.

The biennial event is the conclusion of an impressive organizational machine that saw on the oceanic stage 22 teams from 25 nations competing, including two International Female Teams,  riding the BMW F 850 GS equipped with METZELER KAROO™ 3 tyres.

METZELER KAROO™ 3 guaranteed a high level of reliability and safety for the entire duration of the race completed with a single set of tyres. The on-off enduro tyre proved to be the perfect match with the extraordinary characteristics of the F 850 GS and left all participants enthusiastic about the choice made along the extremely varied route made of fast transfers on tarmac, as well as on mud, stony grounds, guadi and on the gruelling New Zealand gravel.
