- Two new Citroën models won awards yesterday evening at the 2019 Argus Awards ceremony.

- New #c5aircross #SUV, already ordered in nearly 4 000 units in Europe, won Best Compact #SUV.

- New #berlingovan, the 3rd generation of a key player in the segment, was elected Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year.

- A great recognition for these two models poised to drive Citroën’s growth in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles markets. The two vehicles are inspired by customer usage and both possess bold body styling, modern technologies for comfort and safety, and features unique to their segment.

Shaking up the cues in their respective segments and prize-winners at the 2019 Argus Awards, New #c5aircross #SUV and New #berlingovan confirm the relevance of Citroën's range in the PC and LCV market while celebrating the boldness and innovation of a brand about to celebrate its 100th birthday. The official awards ceremony was held yesterday evening in Paris on an invitation by Groupe Argus Chairwoman Alexandrine Breton des Loÿs.

Some 34 models were in the running for this year’s passenger-car awards, divided into four main categories:  Compact Car, Compact #SUV and Leisure Activity Vehicle, Family and Premium Car, and Family and Premium #SUV. Five vehicles competed in the Light Commercial Vehicle category. For the jury, New #c5aircross #SUV and New #berlingovan strike the finest balance in each of the categories. Some 20 journalists or valuation experts and listing specialists from the Argus group established an initial points ranking based on the following criteria: new purchase price, cost price per kilometre, residual value, fuel consumption and user features (quality, comfort, driving pleasure and equipment).

NEW #c5aircross #SUV: THE ULTRA-COMFORTABLE SUV

A year after the distinction earned by New Citroën C3 Aircross Compact #SUV, the first model in Citroën’s #SUV offensive in Europe and voted Best Urban #SUV and Car of the Year by Argus, the Brand’s new flagship, Citroën #c5aircross #SUV, has now won over the Argus jury. New #c5aircross #SUV took home the Best Compact #SUV award on the strength of its numerous talents.

Boasting a strong personality, New #c5aircross #SUV stood out from its rivals with its energetic and reassuring attitude, customisation potential, and strong, typically-Citroën design components including the Airbump®. An ambassador of the Citroën Advanced Comfort®programme, New #c5aircross #SUV also innovates with its overall comfort, notably through the standard-fit Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® suspension system and Advanced Comfort seats (depending on the version). Drawing on all of Citroën’s expertise, the new model also scores high on spaciousness and versatility, with three individual reclining, sliding and flat-folding rear seats and class-leading boot capacity of 580 litres to 720 litres. Fully in tune with its times, New #c5aircross #SUV is equipped with 20 modern driver assistance systems and six advanced connectivity technologies, as well as latest-generation PureTech and BlueHDi engines and the EAT8 automatic gearbox. Produced in France at the Rennes-La Janais site, it has earned “Origine France Garantie” certification and is available in an attractive, core-market range starting at € 24 700. Firmly on its way to sales success, New #c5aircross #SUV is an integral part of the Brand's renewal and has already been ordered in nearly 4 000 units in Europe, before its advertising launch in january 2019.

“We are very proud to receive this prestigious 2019 Argus award for #c5aircross, a new-generation #SUV already acknowledged for its benchmark comfort and versatility and also the new flagship of a renewed and consistent Citroën range.”

Xavier Peugeot, Senior Vice President Citroën Product Director

NEW #berlingovan : THE BESPOKE LCV

Crowned as International #van of the Year 2019, New #berlingovan continues to stack up the prizes, having now earned the Argus award for Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year. The distinction once again acknowledges the generational leap made on styling, customer features and equipment by the third-generation Berlingo, which beat out the five other LCV models in the running.

A compact #van issuing from a long-running success story and Citroën’s top-selling LCV, New #berlingovan is inspired by professionals and their motoring experience. A benchmark on practicality and load volume, it is designed for all uses. It is available in two sizes, M and XL, and comes in a bespoke range based on four trim levels (including two new levels, Worker and Driver). It is also available in a number of cabin configurations, including a standard cab, the Extenso® cab and a crew cab version. The modern LCV is underpinned by the EMP2 platform at the front and is fitted with 20 driver assistance systems for extra comfort and safety, including the all-new Overload Indicator and Surround Rear Vision functions. It is powered by latest-generation diesel engines, among them the 130hp 1.5 BlueHDi with the EAT8 automatic gearbox.

“The Citroën brand is proud to receive the 2019 Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year title for its New #berlingovan, a driving force behind Citroën’s LCV momentum in Europe. Our LCV registrations grew 10.6% in the first half of the year, twice as fast as the LCV market’s growth! The brand’s long-standing attachment to the LCV segment since the 2CV #van, as well as the relevance of Citroën’s new range in the compact #van segment, are today being applauded by Argus. This award recognises the qualities of an ‘all-rounder’ model that stands as the best partner for professionals.”

Philippe Narbeburu, Senior Vice President, Light Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, PSA Group
