Scott Speed and #tannerfoust will battle for the drivers’ title at the finale of the inaugural ARX season
Herndon, VA (September 28, 2018) — Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross is the odds-on favorite to walk away with another pair of rallycross championships after the Americas Rallycross (ARX) season finale at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, this weekend. Having clinched the team championship during the series’ penultimate outing at Trois-Rivières in Canada, the Indianapolis-based outfit is set to add to its driver championship tally with both #scottspeed and #tannerfoust atop the standings, nearly out of reach of their nearest rivals.
Speed leads the field, holding a nine-point advantage over teammate Foust. A good finish at COTA will earn the driver of the No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle Rallycross his fourth-consecutive championship triumph and place him in the history books as the first winner of the new-for-2018 ARX series.
Despite his lead in the standings and a return to the COTA venue where he claimed his first victory of the 2018 season, Speed does not discount the possibility of his title hopes being derailed."Anything can happen in #racing, and that's even truer when it comes to rallycross," said Speed. "Our mantra for the weekend will be to stay consistent and out of trouble. This is the first chance my family's had to come to a race this year, so I'm looking forward to enjoying it with them."
