Dunlop and Porsche do the double at Nürburgring

Just two weeks after Frikadelli #racing Team took their maiden victory with the #dunlop equipped #porsche, the team scored a repeat success at the German VLN #endurance Championship 4 hour race on Saturday.

The day started well for Frikadelli when Norbert Siedler set a storming pole position lap. The Austrian lapped the 24.433 km Nürburgring Nordschleife & Sprintstrecke in 7m:56.644s in the #porsche 911 GT3 R.  In addition to being a dominant pole position lap, Siedler's time set a new record for the 2018 season.

Qualifying proved the pace of Dunlop's latest GT3 tyres, with three of the fastest four cars using #dunlop.  Whilst outright pace is important, an #endurance race requires consistency, durability and relentless performance from drivers, cars and tyres. From the green light, Siedler seized the lead. His first pitstop was on lap 6 , handing the #porsche to co-driver Lance David Arnold.

Arnold then came under heavy pressure from the two Ferrari 488s of the Wochenspiegel team, but was able to hold the lead and utlimately extend the gap.  In his final stint he was able to pull out a huge margin of 89 seconds over the Ferraris to secure the second successive win for #dunlop and Frikadelli #porsche.

Frikadelli's second Porsche 911 GT3 R (driven by Felipe Fernandez Laser and Sabine Schmitz) also had a strong run.  After losing some paces in the first lap melee, they fought hard throughout the race, showing consistently strong pace. In the closing stages, they had a titanic battle with fellow #dunlop team, Phoenix Audi, for 4th place.  After a thrilling final lap battle,  the Audi R8 LMS (piloted by Frank Stippler) pipped Laser to the line by just 0.13 seconds after 4 hours of wheel to wheel #racing.

Alexander Kühn, Product Manager, #dunlop Motorsport Europe was delighted with the results of the company's partner teams:   ‘To score our second consecutive win with Frikadelli shows the progress we have made with our latest generation #dunlop GT3 tyres. Congratulations to Phoenix Audi for a great race too. This puts our partners in a strong position for the rest of the championship ‘

Dunlop, #porsche and Frikadelli Racing's day was completed with fastest race lap. Siedler set an 8m 04.527s in the race, over 2 seconds faster than the best lap of the second placed car.  The Phoenix Audi (Stippler) and second Porsche (Laser) also set faster laps than the second place car.
